The 49ers are in unfamiliar territory this week. After all, they’re coming off their first defeat of the 2023 NFL season — a 19-17 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Meanwhile, the Vikings aim for their first home win of the year following Week 6’s 19-13 win over the Chicago Bears.
Can San Francisco return to the win column with a bounce-back effort? Or will Minnesota figure a way to inch closer to the .500 mark?

49ers vs Vikings Prediction & Best Bet — NFL Week 7 MNF
All eyes are on the 49ers to see if they can bounce back tonight. A 5-0 record to begin the season led to many football enthusiasts deeming them to be Super Bowl favorites, however, the loss to the Browns has left people second-guessing themselves.
The 49ers’ injury situation could make bouncing back difficult. Star wideout Deebo Samuel has been ruled out with a shoulder injury. Running back Christian McCaffrey is expected to play despite dealing with an oblique injury, but he likely won’t be at 100%.
On the flip side, the Vikings are still without No. 1 playmaker Justin Jefferson, so that balances things out. Minnesota’s attack was uninspiring without him last week, recording only 220 total yards with one offensive touchdown against the Bears.
The Vikings will likely have trouble producing offense again this week. The 49ers allow the fewest points per game and third-fewest yards per play in the NFL, along with 1.8 takeaways per outing (No. 7).
Meanwhile, Minnesota’s defense is a good matchup for any team with a competent offense. The Vikings allow 22.5 PPG (No. 21). which rises to 25.0 PPG at home (No. 22). They’re also allowing close to 300 passing yards per outing at home, so expect the 49ers’ pass-catchers — Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, etc. — to step up when possible.
It’s also worth noting that the Vikings are 0-3 at U.S. Bank Stadium this season. While each of those losses only came by one possession, Minnesota’s inability to get things going in the second half has hurt them the most.
When it comes to scoring at home, the Vikings are only averaging 9.3 points in the second half compared to 11.0 in the first. It’s not a massive drop, but it still could make the difference against a team with as much firepower as the 49ers.
Even with their injury situation, I’m still confident that the 49ers will win. They’re an elite team on both sides of the ball and still have enough big names to beat a struggling team like the Vikings.
With that being said, I’m still taking Minnesota to cover. The Vikings have found a way to keep things close at home this season whereas the 49ers are a bit tough to trust after losing to the short-handed Browns.

When it comes to a 49ers vs. Vikings player prop I like, I’m going with Brandon Aiyuk recording at least 74 receiving yards.
Aiyuk is already off to a tremendous start to the year, averaging a career-high 90.8 receiving yards per game. He now gets to face the Vikings, who allow the most receptions and fourth-most receiving yards to wideouts this season.
Furthermore, Aiyuk will likely see more targets with Deebo Samuel sidelined. In his last nine games without Samuel, Aiyuk has finished with 74 or more yards five times, including in three of the last four instances.
