2025 NFL MVP Odds Update | December 1, 2025

The NFL MVP race has reached the point in the season where every performance feels like it shifts the entire board, yet the odds still do not tell the full story. Several contenders are gaining momentum, others are fading, and a few longshots are suddenly forcing their way back into the conversation. This is the stretch where value appears, where narratives flip, and where one big week can reshape everything. Here is an odds update and how I am looking to attack the MVP market.

This award has once again pushed me into a massive rage, because it is unfair to every other position and has simply turned into a quarterback award. This may be the least deserving season for a quarterback to win it and the most deserving for a defensive player. Myles Garrett is on pace to destroy the sack record and he is not even listed on BetOnline’s MVP odds board. On other books he sits at 300 to one. Absurd.

The sack record is 22.5, set by Michael Strahan in 2001. Garrett has 19 sacks and still has five games to record four more. It is insulting that he is not even in the discussion, yet all the talk centers on Matthew Stafford making this much of a splash in his 17th season, or Drake Maye in his second. Yes, those guys are leading their teams to a potential playoff run, but is anyone more valuable to their team than Garrett is to the Browns? The criteria for this award is silly and it needs to change. If they insist on giving it only to quarterbacks, then change the name of the award so it reflects what it has always been, the most valuable quarterback.

Where is the value?

Aside from my belief in Garrett, there are plenty of opportunities to take longshots. With multiple teams needing to win out to reach the playoffs, stars will need to carry the load. With how well the Dallas Cowboys have been playing, is it really that wild to take a flyer on Dak Prescott? The Cowboys are humming right now and if they can beat the Lions this week and run the table, they are in great shape to possibly win the East. Getting past Detroit on the road is the first major test. After that they host the Vikings, Chargers, then finish with the Commanders and Giants on the road. All very winnable games for this Dallas group.

The same goes for the Chiefs. They will need to win out to have a real shot at the playoffs. Patrick Mahomes currently sits at 55 to one on BetOnline. When was the last time his odds were that long? His first season as a starter? I do not trust the Chiefs, but it is Mahomes. I would still rather take the longshot on Prescott at anything above 10 to one.

At the end of the day, this race is more wide open than the odds entail. A historic defensive season is unfolding right in front of us and it is being ignored. That alone shows how broken the criteria has become. There is still value on the board, and the final five weeks will shape everything. Whether it is Garrett chasing history, Prescott pushing Dallas, or Mahomes trying to drag Kansas City back into contention, the door is not closed. Someone just needs to seize the moment.
