The Wisconsin Badgers head down to Bryant-Denny Stadium this Saturday for some action against an SEC opponent. Last year the Alabama Crimson Tide went to Camp Randall in Madison and took down Wisconsin, but this year the Tide play hosts as the Badgers come to Tuscaloosa. Since losing their opener on the road to Florida State, the Crimson Tide beat Louisiana Monroe 73-0 in their first home game, and now they play another Power Four opponent. While Wisconsin isn’t all that scary, Alabama will certainly have to come focused for this one. Let’s find our favorite picks.

Wisconsin Badgers vs. #19 Alabama Crimson Tide NCAA Football Insights

Danny O’Neil has two picks in two games against opponents much worse than Alabama
Alabama went in to Tallahassee to face then, unranked Florida State as two touchdowns favorites, and lost by as many. Maybe we were just underestimating the Seminoles, but that was a wake up call for the Crimson Tide. The fans let Kalen DeBoer know they expect more, and it certainly showed in Week 2 against a much inferior opponent. Can they get this win before heading into their bye to prepare for the Georgia Bulldogs?
On the other sideline, the Wisconsin Badgers come into this game with two wins on the season, but this will be their first battle on the road. They shutout the Miami (OH) Redhawks 17-0 in Week 1, and then beat Middle Tennessee State 42-10 when they came to town last weekend. San Diego State transfer Danny O’Neil looks alright leading the offense, but he does have two picks already this season, and going into Alabama will be by far the toughest defense this sophomore has ever seen.

If you didn’t catch The Ole College Try on Tuesday, first off you missed out. Catch me, Colby Marchio and Kate Constable live every Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. eastern talking all things College Football. But secondly, Kate had some great insights into this game which steered me onto my pick.
Alabama fans are upset with DeBoer after that Week 1 loss. So pissed off that lottery ticket holders are vowing to pay his 70 million dollar contract buyout if they win. You’ve got to give these fans some good news and something to cheer about. How do you do that?
You absolutely run up the score against your first real home opponent.

I elected to go with the first half spread instead of the full game, and full transparency, I snagged -11.5 which I believe to be still out there. So as always, do your line shopping. However I think Alabama runs up the score and they are more than capable of stopping Wisconsin.
Danny O’Neil was a true freshman starting for San Diego State last season. He played just one ranked game against No. 15 Boise State, where he went 14/30 for 155 yards with two touchdowns and two picks. O’Neil was sacked three times and had his second lowest QB Rating of the season. With all due respect to last year’s Boise State team, that defense isn’t in the same league as this year’s Tide. Even though they gave up 31 to Tommy Castellanos and the Seminoles, I think that was more of a statement for how good Florida State may be this season, plus the Tide might’ve got caught overlooking their opponent. That won’t happen twice.
O’Neil hasn’t been overly impressive against mediocre opponents, and this will be the toughest defense he’s probably faced in his entire life. Alabama will show no mercy. They won this game 42-10 last season in Wisconsin, and Ty Simpson clearly found his groove, going 17/17 for 226 yards and three touchdowns last week before letting some other guys get reps.
Look for DeBoer to be aggressive early against a team on the road for the first time this season. Bryant-Denny is always a tough place to play, and the Badgers do not match up to the talent on the other sideline. Alabama wins this game by three touchdowns, and certainly covers this first half number for us.
