UMass vs. Akron: Midweek Player Props | November 4, 2025

It has been a grind finding edges in the college football player prop market lately, but MACtion is the perfect medicine to get things rolling again. Tuesday nights in November always deliver chaos, and this matchup between Akron and UMass sets up beautifully for one particular quarterback. The Zips have quietly found some rhythm in conference play, while the Minutemen continue to struggle in every phase of the game. With a vulnerable secondary and a quarterback capable of taking advantage, this feels like an ideal spot to bounce back. Let’s dive into why I am backing Ben Finley to deliver tonight.

UMass vs. Akron – November 4

After another tough week grinding out college football player props, I have officially cleansed the bad juju and am ready to bounce back.

MACtion is back in full swing, and you already know I have to get involved. Tonight, the Akron Zips host the UMass Minutemen, with Akron entering as 11.5-point favorites looking to notch another conference win, while UMass is simply searching for any kind of victory. The Minutemen sit at 0-8 and rank among the worst offensive teams in the country. Unfortunately, their defense is pretty offensive as well. The numbers look slightly better than reality, mostly because they have faced more ground-heavy offenses. When they have faced air raid attacks, opponents have had no problem moving the ball through the air.

Tonight, I am taking Akron quarterback Ben Finley over 234.5 passing yards at -114. He has been solid in conference play, averaging 246 yards on 35 attempts through four games. The main concern is Akron’s inconsistency with completions, Finley is hitting just 55.7% of his passes in conference. However, UMass allows opponents to complete 72% of their passes, which ranks second worst in the nation. That should help offset Akron’s accuracy issues.

What Akron Can Exploit

The Minutemen are giving up 247 passing yards per game (97th nationally), even though most of their opponents have been run-first teams. Their opponents are averaging just 29 pass attempts per game, with a 42% pass rate. Against the few teams that actually throw, UMass has been shredded. Buffalo’s Ta’Quan Roberson torched them for 403 yards in a 28-21 win. Western Michigan, which averages 26 pass attempts per game, still managed 163 yards. Central Michigan and Kent State, both of whom barely throw, each hovered around 150 passing yards.

Given that context, Finley is in a prime spot to sling it. That is why I laddered this prop up to 375+ passing yards. The prices were simply too good to pass up (Ba-Doom-Tiss). I grabbed 300+, 325+, 350+, and 375+, skipping the smaller steps in between. Finley has yet to crack 300 yards this season, but that does not bother me here.

If you are unable to get down on this prop, I recommend signing up with BetOnline, or just taking the Zips to cover the spread tonight.

Akron has the perfect setup tonight to let Ben Finley air it out. UMass has been torched all season by even the most average passing attacks, and their secondary simply cannot keep up when teams decide to throw. Finley has shown steady volume in conference play, and this matchup lines up perfectly for a breakout performance. The completion percentage worries are valid, but UMass’ 72% opponent completion rate erases that concern. Whether you ride the ladder with me or just take the over, this feels like the night the Zips’ passing game finally explodes.
