#3 Texas A&M Aggies vs. #20 LSU Tigers NCAA Football Insights
Tigers vs. Aggies

LSU’s offense has simply not been clicking like we expected it to this year. Their only convincing win was over SE Louisiana and they didn’t even cover. Sure they beat Clemson, Florida and South Carolina, but none of those teams currently have a pulse. Those wins are unimpressive and won’t look any better. However, their two losses are to good teams, both on the road which plays into their favor. But the Tigers can’t afford anymore slip ups.
It’s not going to come easy for the Aggies, and nothing has this year. They have single possession wins over Notre Dame in South Bend, against Auburn, and in Fayetteville against the Razorbacks. The Aggies have only covered twice as a favorite, but last week’s three point win against Arkansas was much more of a dominant victory than the score tells us. Texas A&M allowed 15 fourth quarter points to the Hogs, with the final touchdown coming with 10 seconds on the clock. I think they’ll be fine.

Brian Kelly and his team are done. The College Football Playoff is likely out of the question for LSU as Alabama and the Aggies are still undefeated in SEC play with six other one loss schools in the conference. Texas A&M controls their own destiny, but still have three ranked matchups on the road remaining against No. 20 LSU, a bye week and then at No. 15 Missouri and No. 22 Texas to end the year. You’ve got to pick up wins in at least two of those games, and I think they do that this Saturday.

The Aggies are the truth, the Tigers are not. That’s the extent of this handicap (basically).
Texas A&M is 2-1 ATS in one score spreads, winning by six as a 6.5 point favorite against Auburn. Going into a bye week before preparing for Mizzou, Mike Elko will have his team focused, especially after taking their foot off the gas last week. LSU’s defense is alright statistically, but they couldn’t slow down Ole Miss or Vanderbilt, even if those matchups were on the road. Texas A&M’s offense is lethal.
The Aggies’ offense ranks top 15 in points per game, yards per play and red zone scoring percentage. The Tigers offense? They are bottom 35 in scoring, bottom 15 in red zone scoring percentage, and No. 84 in third down conversion rate. Texas A&M is the No. 2 defense in the nation in stopping their opponent on third down, and have held SEC opponents to converting just 6/43 (13.9%) chances.
LSU has no rushing attack, and technically the Aggies have a better secondary unit anyways. The Tigers won’t be able to put up any points, and they’ll have plenty of issues slowing down Marcel Reed and company. Look for the Aggies to roll.
