Northern Illinois vs. Toledo – November 5
Nothing beats some midweek college football, especially when it is MAC football. The Northern Illinois Huskies head to Toledo to take on the Rockets. The Huskies are looking for their third win of the season, while the Rockets are trying to get one game above .500. Toledo is coming off getting their rear ends handed to them on the road against Washington State, 28-7. Meanwhile, NIU is riding high after a 21-7 win over Ball State. They racked up 370 total yards of offense, with 305 of those coming on the ground. The question is, can they replicate that against a very solid Toledo team?
I would personally lean with the Rockets on the spread in this one, but I am all over a player prop. Rockets running back Chip Trayanum, who should be returning after missing two weeks due to injury, is the focus. We are taking the over 88.5 rushing yards, priced at -114.
Toledo – RB Chip Trayanum (undisclosed) is questionable tonight versus Northern Illinois.

Sixth-Year Best Year
The sixth-year senior has been a menace this season, especially in MAC play. Trayanum has surpassed this prop in every game where he recorded more than 11 carries, except for the opener against Kentucky, where he had 14 carries for just 44 yards, but that was Kentucky. In his five games this season, he has topped 125 rushing yards three times, all coming in games with at least 14 attempts.
The senior is averaging over 117 yards on 21 carries per game in his three MAC matchups. Toledo’s offense runs the ball 53% of the time, averaging around 37 rushing attempts per game.
Huskies Run Defense
NIU’s rush defense has been getting gashed all season, allowing opponents to run all over them. The Huskies have given up 192 rushing yards per game (115th nationally) and 4.5 yards per carry (81st). The four MAC teams they have faced, Ball State, Ohio, Eastern Michigan, and Miami (OH), have all rushed for at least 139 yards. Ohio alone ran for 333 yards, with two players eclipsing 126 yards each. During conference play, NIU has been allowing 204 rushing yards per game, with opponents’ leading rushers averaging 106 yards.
Chip Trayanum is set up for a big night in his return. Toledo leans heavily on the run, and NIU’s defense has been shredded on the ground, giving up over 200 rushing yards per game in MAC play. Trayanum has cleared this number whenever he gets consistent volume, and with the Rockets favored by two touchdowns, the game script should be perfect for him. I am backing Trayanum over 88.5 rushing yards and expecting the former Sun Devil, Buckeye and Wildcat to deliver and deliver big on Wednesday night!
