Down in Stillwater this weekend is a Big 12 matchup that won’t get much national attention given the caliber of each team. However, as a Midwest die hard, I’ll be tuning in to Oklahoma State hosting Kansas State. The Cowboys really don’t have anything to play for, but the Wildcats still need some wins if they want to get invited to a bowl. Let’s get into our favorite picks in this matchup. This was actually the first college football button I pressed for Week 12.

Oklahoma State does not have a Big 12 win this season, as they are sitting alone at the bottom of the conference. They are 1-8 overall this year, only beating UT-Martin to open the season. This team is just 2-7 against the spread, coming off their second cover of the year. Not much else to say about this team, they suck.
Kansas State also isn’t great, especially considering their expectations coming into the year, but they have so much more to play for. The Wildcats need two wins in their remaining three games to be bowl eligible, so a win on the road could be huge going into the end of the season. Do they have what it takes with both teams coming off a bye week?

There are some 19.5s out there so do your line shopping always, but it wouldn’t surprise me if this closes at three touchdowns. Everyone has been blowing out the Cowboys this season, and the Wildcats coming to town will be no different. Oklahoma State is actually coming off covering a 24.5 point spread to the Kansas Jayhawks, making them 2-7 against the spread this year.
The Wildcats are just 4-5 ATS this season, but they covered four straight before failing to do so against Texas Tech, so they are trending in the right direction. After a bye week, they will regroup and come focused because this is a huge game for them. Kansas State is 4-5 on the season, meaning they need two wins in order to be bowl eligible after this horrendous season. Their remaining three games are this one at Oklahoma State, at No. 13 Utah, and vs. Colorado. Facing the Utes is likely a loss, so they desperately need this win. I expect them to leave no doubt on the football field this Saturday.
The Cowboys are awful. They rank bottom five in scoring and yards per game on both sides of the ball, plus third down conversion rate defensively. Offensively, they are north of 100 (bottom 36) in yards per carry and third down conversions. The Wildcats’ defense is good enough to cover this number by keeping their hosts off the scoreboard, but their offense should thrive, as everyone’s does against Oklahoma State. Kansas State is still top 30 in points per play and top 10 in red zone scoring percentage, and again, they likely need this win if they want to go bowling this year.
