Jacksonville State vs. Middle Tennessee State: Player Props & More | October 29, 2025

Midweek Conference USA football is a special kind of chaos, and this one feels like the perfect setup for some fireworks. Middle Tennessee State returns home looking to snap a four-game skid, while Jacksonville State comes in rested and confident after a bye week and a win over Delaware. Both teams have plenty to play for, but one matchup in particular jumps off the page. The Blue Raiders have leaned heavily on quarterback Nicholas Vattiato all season, and this could be the night he delivers a statement performance. Jacksonville State’s defense has been vulnerable through the air, and with Vattiato’s recent uptick in volume and accuracy, this game has all the makings of a breakout spot for the Blue Raiders’ gunslinger.

Jacksonville State vs. Middle Tennessee State – October 29

Imagine waking up and not craving midweek Conference USA football. Could not be us. The Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders host the Jacksonville State Gamecocks after suffering their fourth straight loss, this time on the road against Delaware. Jacksonville State, on the other hand, comes in off a bye week and a home win over those same Blue Hens.

For this matchup, I am not focused on a side or total. My attention is on one player prop, and that belongs to Blue Raiders quarterback Nicholas Vattiato. Jacksonville State ranks near the bottom 30 nationally in passing yards allowed, making Vattiato’s passing prop of 260.5 yards at -114 very appealing.

I did not exactly ladder, but I did sprinkle on 400+ yards at +1600 because the price felt too good to ignore. Delaware’s Nick Minicucci threw for 422 yards against this same Gamecocks defense. Yes, much of that came while trailing big, but the yardage total still speaks volumes.

Vattiato is averaging 239 passing yards on nearly 40 attempts per game, and over his last three outings he has topped 275 yards on average with 43 attempts per game. If that volume continues, clearing 260 should not be a problem.

Gamecocks Pass Defense

Jacksonville State’s defense has not faced many teams that throw as often as Middle Tennessee. Opponents have passed on only 46% of plays against them this season, while the Blue Raiders throw the ball on 62% of their snaps. Outside of Delaware, no team Jacksonville State has faced averages more than 36 pass attempts per game.

Even with limited exposure to heavy passing teams, the Gamecocks still allow nearly nine yards per attempt, 258 yards per game, and a 64% completion rate. They also rank last nationally in opponent interception rate, meaning Vattiato should have clean possessions and sustained drives.

This sets up as an ideal spot for Vattiato to air it out, exploit a soft pass defense, and potentially help get Middle Tennessee back in the win column.

Vattiato has quietly been one of the most consistent passers in the conference, and this matchup gives him a prime opportunity to showcase it. The numbers, the volume, and the defensive matchup all line up perfectly for him to put on a show. With Jacksonville State’s secondary struggling to contain opposing quarterbacks, expect Middle Tennessee to rely heavily on his arm from the opening drive. If the Blue Raiders stay aggressive and keep the tempo high, Vattiato should not only clear his passing line but could easily flirt with that 400-yard mark and deliver one of his best performances of the year.

Best Bet: Nicholas Vattiato Over 260.5 Pass Yards (-114) odds via BetOnline
