Even the disgusting games on the college football slate deserve love, and we’ve got a gross one in Wisconsin. The Badgers are horrendous this season, yet Luke Fickell has been assured his job is safe for next year. No need to change anything till the fall! However they have the No. 21 Illinois Fighting Illini coming to town and Bret Bielema and company want to finish strong. Plus the author of this article needs two more Illini wins to cash a +150 win total future! So let’s check out my totally unbiased opinions on this ball game.

The Badgers are just bad. Simple as that. They are 3-7 overall and 1-6 in Big Ten play. Two of those wins came in their opening games, beating Miami (OH) and Middle Tennessee State at home. However, they followed it up with six straight losses, five of which were to conference opponents, the other to the Alabama Crimson Tide. But last time out at Camp Randall, the Badgers beat the No. 23 Washington Huskies for their first conference win. Will they carry that momentum against another ranked opponent?
I will argue that the Illini have three admirable losses. They got ran up against Indiana and Ohio State, the best two teams in the country. Who cares. Those teams are MILES ahead of you in talent. Their other loss came on the road against that same Washington team that the Badgers beat. Illinois was traveling west for the first time, and couldn’t perform on the road. I think things are different this weekend.

The Badgers have been in a gauntlet this season. This will be their seventh game against a ranked opponent, and their fifth straight. I do not have any faith in them as a team, they aren’t playing for a conference win anymore (already happened) and I will be fading them as they look ahead to playing for Paul Bunyan’s Axe on the road next weekend.

Come on. A double digit win is nothing for the Illini on the road. Even at Camp Randall. The Badgers can play “Jump Around” all they want, they’ll already be down three scores by the time the fourth quarter comes jumpin’ around. Despite this being senior night for the Badgers, I see them getting blown out again.
The Badgers have covered three straight spreads, but they’ve lost by double digits in all seven losses this year. Why would this weekend be any different? The Illini are both 7-3 overall and against the spread this year, covering all six spreads as a favorite. Yes. All six.
Illinois ranks top 25 in completion percentage and yards per pass, and are top 30 in third down conversion rate as well. Despite the defensive numbers not being up to standard, the Illini offense will be enough to cover the number. The Badgers are third worst in the country in opponent completion percentage and are north of 100 in yards per pass allowed and interceptions. Offensively, Wisconsin is second worst in points and yards per game, they are bottom 10 in third down conversions, and are north of 100 in red zone scoring percentage.
Bret Bielema’s team will be ready to take the Badgers out of this game early, so they focus on cashing my win total ticket against Northwestern at home.
