The game of the week is home to two SEC teams as we get a top 15 conference showdown in Knoxville this weekend. The No. 6 Georgia Bulldogs head into Neyland to take on the No. 15 Tennessee Volunteers. In two games so far this season, both look rock solid so far and have two wins on their record. But kicking off conference play is never easy in the SEC, especially doing so on the road, which is what Kirby Smart and Georgia will have to do. Can they go into Tennessee and win against Josh Heupel? Or will the new and improved Volunteers keep marching forward? Let’s get into our favorite picks.
Editor’s Note: We are sticking with our prop and riding the Dawgs to win outright in spirit.

#6 Georgia Bulldogs vs. #15 Tennessee Volunteers NCAA Football Insights

Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs have their first real test this weekend on the road
While the Georgia Bulldogs weren’t too impressive in their first two games, they came away with wins, which is all you really need. Now the real test begins. After this away game, they go directly into a bye week before hosting Alabama, so full focus will be pulling off this win and staying undefeated. It is so important to start off conference play with a win, and Kirby Smart is a perfect 9-0 in SEC openers as Head Coach of the Bulldogs.
However, Joey Aguilar looks amazing as a Tennessee Volunteer, and his supporting staff is certainly helping him out as well. The offense put up 72 points last week with over 700 yards of offense, and were just as dominating against Syracuse in Week 1. While the Bulldogs are certainly light years ahead of the Orange, so are the Volunteers compared to Georgia’s former opponents. Both teams have certainly had this one circled, and we as fans are in for a fantastic showdown.

Spread
- Georgia -3.5 (-112)
- Tennessee +3.5 (-108)
Moneyline
- Georgia -180
- Tennessee +157
Total
- Over 50 (-110)
- Under 50 (-110)
Now the Bulldogs were -7.5 point favorites when this line initially dropped in July, and on Sunday people were already betting it down. Money and tickets keep raining in for the home underdog Volunteers as we see the Bulldogs currently laying only a field goal and the hook. Now, I don’t think we will see a straight field goal for the Dawgs or even a -2.5, but if we do, it will be right before kick off.
I am holding a Georgia to go 12-0 ticket for +550, so in spirit, I need the Bulldogs to come through with a win. I certainly lean on them doing so, and if I see a playable ML I may double down on my future. The SEC still runs through Athens, and I could see the Dawgs asserting their dominance, especially defensively. But, my best bet in this game is actually a player prop on the Tennessee side.
#6 Georgia vs. #15 Tennessee NCAA Football Picks and Predictions

Joey Aguilar has been a stud for Tennessee so far
Georgia vs. Tennessee Prediction: Georgia Wins, Tennessee Covers, Under 49.5
Best Bet: Joey Aguilar Over 201.5 Passing Yards (-115) BetOnline
This guy has fit in incredibly well with the Tennessee Volunteers system so far. Aguilar is letting it fly, averaging 267.5 passing yards in two games this season with five touchdowns and not a single interception. He’s thrown the ball 29.5 times per game this year, and in my head, he will be needing to sling the pill.
The Volunteer’s rushing attack has been very good so far this season, taking pressure off of their new quarterback, but I’m not sure how effective they’ll be on the ground against the Georgia front seven. They allowed 78 yards and just 2.5 per carry against Marshall, and just 45 total rushing yards on 1.6 per carry last weekend against Austin Peay. Yes, the hosts will have more success than those teams, but I still see them turning to Aguilar’s arm to light things up.
Fading Good Ole Rocky Top?
Josh Heupel will use the home crowd. I see him scripting his first drive with a bunch of quick passes, maybe in hurry up style, in order to rattle the defense, ignite the crowd early and really fire up the home field advantage. It wouldn’t surprise me if we saw a surprise deep shot on the opening possession as well. Now while I think this game does go under, I see both teams moving the ball plenty, with both defensive units stopping the other when it counts.
Despite being on the road, I still think this is the Dawgs game to lose, which makes me believe the Volunteers will be slinging the pill trying to play catch up. The only time Aguilar has gone under this number was in his first ever collegiate start as a true freshman where he went 11/13 for 174 yards and threw four touchdowns. While he has not seen a defense like the Georgia Bulldogs ever in his career, last season he completed 18 passes against the No. 25 Clemson Tigers on the road for 214 yards and a touchdown while only taking one sack.
This kid Joey Aguilar has it, this weekend is his chance to shine, and win or lose for the Volunteers, he should have enough volume to get us over this number. As stated above, I think the Volunteers will have tons of trouble moving the ball on the ground, which will cause them to rely on Aguilar’s arm to get the victory.
But Go Dawgs for my +550 ticket.
