Billy Napier saved his skin with a big victory over Texas last weekend. Many people around the country (mainly myself) were ready to pronounce the Gators’ season DOA, but we finally found a pulse with a big upset win. However, how do you respond after your Super Bowl? The Gators now have to go down to College Station to face the No. 5 ranked Texas A&M Aggies at Kyle Field at night, which is one of the toughest environments to pull off an upset. Will DJ Lagway surprise everyone two weeks in a row? Or do the Aggies remain undefeated with a big home win? We dive in to our favorite picks below, let’s get to it!

Florida Gators vs. #5 Texas A&M Aggies NCAA Football Insights

The Gators were well on their way to another disappointing season. They beat Long Island 55-0, but then lost three straight to solid opponents. They lost at home to the South Florida Bulls, 18-16, and followed it up with two road losses to LSU and Miami, losing by double digits in both games after being outscored 46-17. However, with their backs against the wall, they beat the Texas Longhorns, exposing the team from Austin for not being all that great. People bought in on the Gators at the right time, but will lightning strike twice in two weeks for Lagway and company?
The Aggies are playing as good as anyone in the country. They are 5-0 for the first time since 2016 and have a big, comeback win in South Bend already, proving they might be a National Championship contender. Texas A&M still has three big road tests on their schedule having to play No. 11 LSU, No. 14 Missouri and Texas (haha) on the road, but they get to avoid teams like Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee until a potential SEC Championship. Surely, Mike Elko and his team will be fully focused, knowing how much they need to stay perfect for as long as they can.

I have never had faith in the Florida Gators, and I certainly don’t now. As stated above, their win was more about how bad the Longhorns are, rather than this Gator team actually proving their worth. On the other sideline, Texas A&M is legit and the hook does not scare me at all.

The Aggies win this game by double digits. I was waiting to see if this might move down below a touchdown, but I decided we (hopefully) won’t need it. Marcel Reed is playing out of this world offensively, and the Aggies’ defensive unit is one of the scariest in the country, especially since turning it on these last two games.
Sure, they gave up 40 points to a very good Notre Dame team on the road. However, in two SEC games at home, Texas A&M has allowed just 19 points and a third down conversion rate of 4.3%. That’s not a typo. Auburn and Mississippi State combined to convert just one of 23 third down opportunities, while scoring just one touchdown each. Florida will have minimal, if any, offensive success at Kyle Field at night.
Offensively, Texas A&M is producing, and the Gators’ defense will not be able to slow them down. They’ve put up at least 399 yards of total offense in every single game and Reed is taking great care of the ball with just two interceptions all year. As a whole, Texas A&M only has three turnovers in five games, and no more than one in any contest. We will see if the Aggies are the real deal in this game, and I certainly think they are.
