Buffalo enters off a statement win over Bowling Green, while Central Michigan looks to bounce back after falling to Western Michigan. The Chips have not forgotten what happened last October, when Buffalo rolled them 37-13. This time, the stage is theirs, and revenge is in play. With both teams looking to climb in the MAC standings, Wednesday night sets up as another physical, grind-it-out battle that will come down to who wins in the trenches.

Buffalo vs. Central Michigan – November 12

Welcome into Hump Day MACtion. The Buffalo Bulls head to Pleasant, Michigan to take on the Central Michigan Chippewas. The Bulls are coming off a dominant win over Bowling Green, while the Chippewas are looking to bounce back after a loss to Western Michigan. The last time these two conference foes met was last October, when the Bulls steamrolled the Chips 37-13 in Buffalo. Does Central Michigan have the juice to get their revenge on Wednesday night? We shall see.

The line opened with Central Michigan favored by 3.5 points, but it has since dropped to nearly a pick’em. The total has stayed steady around 43.5. In this matchup, I am not focused on picking a side. Instead, I found a player prop I want to sweat out: Central Michigan running back Nahree Biggins to go over 41.5 rushing yards against this Buffalo defense.

Buffalo vs. The Run

Buffalo’s run defense has been tested repeatedly this season. The Bulls have faced the third-most rushing attempts in the country, with opponents averaging 43.6 carries per game. They are allowing over 155 rushing yards per game and 3.6 yards per carry. During conference play, those numbers hold steady at 153 yards per game, with opposing leading rushers averaging 101.4 yards against them. In nearly all five MAC games this year, Buffalo’s opponents have rushed for over 115 yards. Akron is the lone exception, finishing below 100. Remove that outlier, and the Bulls are giving up 168.5 rushing yards per game in conference play.

Run Biggins Run!

Biggins has been splitting carries with quarterback Angel Flores, who leads the team in both rushing yards and attempts. However, when the senior back gets at least 10 carries, he has cleared this prop every time. In MAC play, he has gone over this number in three of five games, averaging just under 10 attempts and 60 rushing yards per contest. With nearly 70% of Central Michigan’s plays coming on the ground, this sets up as a strong opportunity for Biggins to eat.

Buffalo’s secondary is far stronger than its front seven, which should push the Chippewas to lean on their run game even more Wednesday night. Teams have consistently gashed the Bulls on the ground, which explains why they are seeing over 40 rush attempts per game. Expect Biggins and the rest of this Central Michigan backfield to find plenty of room to operate.

When you look at the matchup, everything points toward Central Michigan attacking on the ground early and often. The Bulls have struggled to contain consistent rushing attacks all season, and Biggins has thrived when given volume. With conference play in full swing and both teams fighting for positioning, I expect the Chips to stick to their identity and let their senior back set the tone.
