The Auburn Tigers just suffered their first loss of the season, which also happened to be their first conference contest of the year on the road to the Oklahoma Sooners, and things don’t get any easier this week. After losing to the No. 11 ranked Sooners, Hugh Freeze now leads his squad into a second straight ranked road SEC matchup as they head to College Station to take on the No. 9 Texas A&M Aggies. Mike Elko’s squad is 3-0 so far this season, and are coming off a bye week after beating the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in South Bend. Is A&M legit this year? And can they take down the Tigers at home? Let’s find out with our favorite picks.

Auburn Tigers vs. #9 Texas A&M Aggies NCAA Football Insights

Jackson Arnold leads the Tigers against Texas A&M this week
The Tigers opened up their season by taking down the Baylor Bears on national television on a Friday Night. The whole world was watching as Jackson Arnold led his new SEC team with over 130 rushing yards and put up 31 offensive points, as Auburn took down the Bears 38-24. The Tigers went on to win two cupcake games against Ball State and South Alabama, but just lost to Oklahoma in Arnold’s return to Norman, dropping the game 24-17 to the Sooners. Things aren’t getting easier, as the Tigers are staring down their second of four straight ranked opponents, with six total remaining on their schedule.
On the other side, the Aggies are well rested. They beat the UTSA Roadrunners and the Utah State Aggies to start the season, scoring 40+ points in each game but allowed over 20 to their opponents as well. However, they proved they can play with the big boys by taking down the Irish in South Bend, winning 41-40 on a last second touchdown. The Aggies had 488 total yards and just one turnover in that win, with Marcel Reed contributing 360 passing yards and 37 on the ground.
But can they bring the same fire in their first SEC battle of the season?

I certainly lean with the Aggies at home for several reasons. First off, they are at home. Second, they are coming off a bye. Third, Auburn couldn’t really move the ball against Oklahoma on the road. They were just 3/15 on third down and 1/3 on fourth down with just 287 yards of offense. That’s not going to cut in the SEC.
And despite Texas A&M not being a real force to be reckoned with in past years, I think they are a legit contender.
Auburn vs. #9 Texas A&M NCAA Football Picks and Predictions

Mario Craver leads Texas A&M with four receiving touchdowns this season
Auburn vs. Texas A&M Prediction: Texas A&M Wins & Covers, Under 53
Best Bet: Mario Craver (A&M) Anytime TD (+145) BetOnline
While I do like the Aggies to win and cover, I don’t think it comes too easy. Therefore, I see Marcel Reed turning to a familiar name. Mario Craver has clearly been his favorite target this season, and I think he excels this weekend against the Tigers at home.
He leads the team with 20 receptions this year, catching over 34% of Reed’s completions. Craver also has 40% of the teams receiving touchdowns (4/10), and 443 of their 970 receiving yards (45.7%). Even with the addition of KC Concepcion, Craver has been the go-to guy. He’s had at least five receptions and 114 receiving yards and a touchdown in every single game, and is coming off a 7-207-1 game against Notre Dame. The Auburn secondary has gotten torched this season, allowing Baylor and Oklahoma’s top receivers to catch at least eight passes for 127 yards per contest.
They rank No. 72 in opponent completion percentage and No. 77 in opponent passing yards per attempt, and six of the seven touchdowns allowed this season have been through the air. Craver to find the end zone at this number is certainly a go for some fun, player prop action.
