Appalachian State vs Clemson Predictions
The Stank:
Are we witnessing the decline of the Dabo Swinney era? After a 31-point loss to Georgia on Saturday, Clemson, once a perennial threat, now resembles the program before Swinney’s arrival.
Quarterback Cade Klubnik struggled, throwing for 142 yards and an interception, while completing 18 of 29 passes. The Tigers’ offense looked disjointed, a continuation of last year’s issues. Despite facing Georgia, this is not the kind of game to be caught off guard.
However, despite the rough loss to the Bulldogs, I like Clemson against App State in Week 2. App State is one of the top teams in the Sun Belt this season, returning the most players in the conference. Under head coach Shawn Clark, both the offense and defense show promise. The backfield looks strong, the receiving corps is solid, and their defense is anchored by star cornerback Ethan Johnson, expected to be an all-conference performer.
Despite their 38-10 win over East Tennessee State in Week 1, App State struggled to cover the spread as 32.5-point favorites. They allowed 183 rushing yards and 5.1 yards per play, with ETSU controlling the tempo and holding nearly two minutes more possession. This Bucs team is still far from Clemson’s level.

Dabo Swinney should have his team ready for Saturday’s game. They need a strong performance to prepare for NC State the following week. Last year, Clemson averaged 32 points per game at home and consistently defeated teams they were expected to. They should handle App State with no issues.
