#11 Oklahoma vs. #4 Alabama – November 15

One of the biggest matchups in Week 12 features No. 11 Oklahoma heading to Tuscaloosa to face No. 4 Alabama. Both teams are coming off wins and looking to add to their season-long resumes with another statement victory. The Sooners are fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive despite already having two losses, while Alabama continues to improve every single week.

Alabama -6.5 was the first bet I placed for Week 12, and the line movement means nothing to me. The current number on BetOnline sits at -6 in favor of the Crimson Tide, with a total of 46. Expectations are for a close, physical contest. I have no opinion on the total, but I have plenty of conviction about Alabama covering the six points.

Trust the Tide

The Crimson Tide looked sluggish against LSU this past Saturday. Some will argue the Crimson Tide covered, but depending on your number, they did not. The opening line was north of 11, and I was all over LSU in its first game without Brian Kelly. Still, Alabama never looked completely engaged. Were they looking ahead to this matchup with Oklahoma? Most likely. Beating an LSU team that just fired its head coach does not add much to the resume, especially when a top 15 matchup looms the following week.

So Long Sooners

We already know who this Oklahoma team is. The Sooners showed us in their 34-26 home loss to Ole Miss, where the Rebels outgained them in nearly every statistical category. Now they have to go on the road and take down Alabama? No. Sure, they beat Tennessee 33-27 in Neyland as three-point underdogs before their bye week, but nobody truly believes the Volunteers are a competent football team. Now they face another road test against one of the most complete teams in the country. This should be a long afternoon for the Sooners.

The bye week does not concern me one bit. This feels like a spot where Alabama asserts itself once again and ends Oklahoma’s playoff hopes for good. The Tide will close the regular season with Eastern Illinois and Auburn, but this is the one that defines their campaign. Beating No. 11 Oklahoma will be the final statement in what has become an impressive rebound season after the Week 1 loss to Florida State.

Alabama has steadily sharpened their identity since the opening loss to Florida State, and this matchup feels like another proving ground before the College Football Playoffs. Oklahoma may be scrappy, but Alabama’s physicality, discipline, and consistency set them apart. The Sooners’ flaws on the road and struggles against top-tier defenses will surface again in Tuscaloosa. This is the kind of statement Kalen DeBoer’s group thrives on, handling business, quieting doubters, and reminding the nation that the Tide are still the standard. Alabama covers comfortably and continues its march toward another playoff berth.
