#11 BYU vs. Iowa State: Odds & Predictions | October 25, 2025

Iowa Iowa State Picks
The Cyclones find themselves at a crossroads entering this weekend’s matchup. After two straight losses to Cincinnati and Colorado, Iowa State returns home looking to regain its footing and prove it still belongs in the Big 12 conversation. Standing in their way is undefeated No. 11 BYU, a team that continues to find ways to win, even when not at its best. This game presents a critical spot for both programs, one fighting to stay perfect, the other desperate to rebound. With the line opening nearly even, this showdown in Ames could define the direction of each team’s season.

#11 BYU vs. Iowa State – October 25

We head to Ames, Iowa, where the Cyclones are desperate for a win after dropping two straight to Cincinnati and Colorado. They now host the No. 11 BYU Cougars, who remain unbeaten and continue to roll through the Big 12. The question is whether BYU can keep that dominance alive, or if Iowa State finally finds a way to stop the slide and get back in the win column.

I grabbed the Cyclones at +1.5 when the line opened on Sunday, and I think this is the perfect spot to back Matt Campbell and his group. They have lost two straight to teams they should have beaten, while BYU escaped Utah last week in a game they probably should have lost.

BYU is Due for Regression

In that 24-21 win over the Utes, BYU was outgained by more than 100 yards. Utah punted only twice but gave the ball away twice, once through the air and once on the ground. If Utah plays clean football and executes on fourth down, BYU is likely sitting with a loss right now.

The Cyclones may be my favorite play of the week. They are coming off an embarrassing loss to Colorado and a much-needed bye week, while BYU enters its sixth straight game without rest. Iowa State should be fresh, refocused, and ready to defend its home field on Saturday.

At the end of the day, this matchup comes down to situation and setting. Iowa State is a well-coached team with too much pride to drop three straight, especially at home in front of a crowd that will be hungry to see a response. Matt Campbell has built his program on physicality and discipline, two areas that should show after an extra week of preparation.

BYU, on the other hand, has been flirting with disaster. They have not recorded many impressive wins and have found most of their success capitalizing on opponents’ mistakes. Add in the travel and the emotional toll of six straight games, and this spot feels tailor-made for Iowa State to bounce back. I expect the Cyclones to dictate the pace, control the tempo, and cover comfortably at home.
