Wisconsin vs. #23 Nebraska Best Bet
We head to Lincoln, Nebraska where No. 23 Nebraska hosts Wisconsin. Both teams are coming off wins over Big East opponents. Wisconsin took down Marquette 96 to 76 on Saturday. Nebraska rolled Creighton 71 to 50. The Badgers enter with a 7 to 2 record as they step into their first true road game in their second Big Ten test of the year. Will they be able to handle the die-hard Cornhusker crowd? On the other side, can Nebraska keep their perfect start alive? They enter unbeaten through their first nine games. Can they secure their first Big Ten win of the season, or will their streak end tonight?
In this Big Ten matchup, we do not need to worry about who wins or loses, because we are all over the over this evening. Both teams bring top 100 offenses that love to push the pace, and both sit inside the top 100 in tempo. They are a combined 10-8 to the over this season. Against top 100 opponents, they are a combined 6-2 to the over. With another top 100 showdown on deck, will their offenses rise again? They should.
Nebraska leads the charge with the 21st ranked offense in the nation. They excel in multiple areas, ranking fourth in two point efficiency and 51st in three point percentage. They handle the ball well and attack the line at a strong rate. Wisconsin responds with steady ball security of their own, sitting 27th in turnover offense. They also draw fouls at a strong clip and remain one of the top free throw shooting teams in the country.
Both squads rate well defensively, but the pace should create a heavy volume of shots. Each team averages around 74 possessions per game and both score more than 83 points per contest.
Nebraska might be tempted to look ahead to Illinois on Saturday, but this is an important spot for them. I expect them to show up, stay locked in, and avoid any distraction from their top ranked opponent later in the week. However, that is one reason I am not taking a side. This matchup will help shape how I approach Saturday’s game.
All and all, Nebraska and Wisconsin both bring speed, skill, and steady scoring into a fast paced battle that should deliver plenty of offense. With two top tier attacks, strong efficiency, and a tempo that never slows, this matchup sets up perfectly for points. Expect a fun, energetic finish from start to end.
