The Nittany Lions can’t buy a win at the moment. They’ve lost six straight games and 10 of their L11, after starting out 2-1 in conference play. Lucky for them, they play significantly better at home, and the Huskies may suffer from some jet lag as well. Can they catch Washington on an off night on the road? Both teams currently sit at the bottom of the conference and will be looking to turn things around.

Will Penn State Defend Home Court?
For two teams that are at the bottom of the conference, I’ve got to admit that six seems a little steep. Penn State has lost six straight, haven’t covered in four straight, but they are significantly better at home. The Nittany Lions have a Top 55 offense, including ranking Top 60 in eFG% and FT Rate offense as well. Defensively they are Top 30 in forcing turnovers and force teams to run as much as possible.
The Huskies do not like to run. They like to slow things down and take their time, but the efficiency is not their on either side of the ball away from home. Washington is already north of 200 in eFG% on both sides of the ball, as well as in turnover rate offense, but in seven away games, all those stats get worse.
The Huskies are 329th in eFG% offense, 227th in TO Rate, 275th in Offensive Rebounds, and 312th in eFG% Defense. They don’t keep their hands to themselves (293rd FT Rate Defense), so the Nittany Lions will take full advantage of that tonight. Give me the home whistle, and give me Penn State to cover.

Full disclosure, I found -5.5 before it moved up earlier this AM, but 6 or 6.5 is still a go. I’d endorse 7 but would probably have some pause at 7.5, given that is over the three possession mark. Ultimately though, I see the Nittany Lions cruising to victory.
I hinted that they speed things up, ranking 33rd in possessions per game. The Huskies are not built to keep up with fast, efficient offenses, especially on the road. Washington has allowed 80+ in 4 of their L5 contests on the road, only managing 70+ three times in that stretch. If Penn State controls the pace, which they should given they are equal caliber teams at home, the offense should be clicking, leaving Washington in the dust.
