The Final Four happens tonight in Phoenix, and the later game consists of the number one overall seeded UCONN Huskies taking on the West Regional Champions, the Alabama Crimson Tide.
It’s taken some incredible three point shooting for the Tide to reach this game, as they’ve shot over 42% from deep as a team this tournament. But UCONN will be a different kind of beast.
The Huskies have dominated every single game of this tournament, and ultimately I think they roll to their second straight championship game.
But nevertheless, let’s break this game down!

Will Crimson Tide Stay Hot from Three?
Personally, I think if any team is equipped to beat UCONN, it is Alabama. Alabama runs in transition and they might be a difficult matchup for the Huskies.
If Alabama runs some sets with Grant Nelson at the 5, this would force Donovan Clingan away form the hoop to guard Nelson on the perimeter, thus opening up the lane. Getting a shot blocking 7 footer away from the hoop is crucial, but Alabama also needs to be able to shoot their threes.
As I said, Alabama has shot over 42% from deep as a team this tournament, shooting below 40% in just one game, against Grand Canyon. The Tide were just 8/31 from beyond the arc in that game, and ultimately survived because the Lopes shot even worse.
The point is, Alabama will need another incredible shooting night in order for them to have a chance at beating UCONN.
Huskies Continue to Dominate
Look, I don’t think anyone is stopping this team. UCONN has not lost a step since last year’s National Title, and honestly this team looks even better. The guards have been phenomenal, taking care of the ball, defending well, and scoring when they need to.
Donovan Clingan is simply Donovan Clingan down low, controlling the game on both sides of the ball. Plus, we gotta admit Dan Hurley is a hell of a coach and has got his boys focused for the long haul.
I don’t think anyone is stopping this team. However, I will be making a bet on the total today!

Despite not giving the Tide much of a chance in this game, I do believe they can produce some points and force UCONN to speed up.
We know UCONN will score, they do so at will, but Alabama will certainly push the tempo, giving the Huskies extra possessions, and plenty of chances to put the ball in the bucket.
