Once again, we have to discuss a Top 25 matchup in the SEC tonight as the Ole Miss Rebels host the Texas A&M Aggies tonight in Oxford. After missing their stud PG Wade Taylor for a couple games, he returned this weekend in their win over LSU. The Aggies finally won after dropping two games to Alabama and Kentucky, but still have a tall task ahead against the Rebels.
Ole Miss is coming off an overtime loss to their rival, Mississippi State, on the road, but they did pull off a big upset over Alabama in Tuscaloosa. They sit at 4-1 in SEC play and are 15-3 on the season, but can they defend their home court tonight?

Wade Taylor is Back in the Aggies Lineup
After missing a couple games, the Aggies floor general is back in action
I am a big fan of this Aggies team, but only when Taylor is in the lineup. He’s back in action, looked fine against LSU, and I see him leading Texas A&M to an outright victory tonight. The Aggies next few games are against “easier”… *read: not ranked*… SEC opponents, so I see them coming fully focused tonight to take down a top dawg in the conference. This could be a crucial turning point in the Aggies season, and I expect them to take advantage.
As for Ole Miss, I certainly see the appeal. They are a good, well coached basketball team in a bounce back spot at home. They almost took down their rivals on the road, but lost in overtime. Now they have a chance to get back on the horse and build some more momentum as the season progresses. They have more of a look ahead spot than their visitors, as they travel to Columbia to take on the #22 Missouri Tigers on Saturday, who will be in their own bounce back spot at home.
Ultimately, I see this being a slow paced, defensive game, where points are at a premium, which results in me favoring the underdog to win outright.

Plug your nose, and fade the Rebels in this bounce back spot at home. Ole Miss has a very good offense, but ironically it drops off at home significantly. The Rebels are 8-0 at home, but drop from 47th in overall offensive efficiency to 188th. They also rank 188th in eFG% at home, and drop from 2nd in the country to 93rd in turnover rate. They shoot too many threes for their team percentage, but they do have success defensively.
The Rebels are Top 20 in overall defensive efficiency at home and are Top 6 in forcing turnovers. But they are bound to slip up at home, and I see them sleeping tonight.
Texas A&M is the best offensive rebounding team in the country, dropping off to 5th away from home. They are still Top 50 in offensive efficiency and FT Rate, while also ranking Top 20 on defense and 11th in turnovers forced. Defense is going to dominate this game, and I trust the Aggies slightly more, even on the road. Give me the road dog to bark tonight!
