#6 Tennessee vs #1 Auburn: NCAA Basketball Odds & Best Bets

Broome is an All American candidate this year

Bruce Pearl and Rick Barnes lead their teams tonight in a Top 10 SEC battle. The Tigers are a perfect 5-0 in SEC play this season, and they have only lost once this season, on the road at #9 Duke. They’ve had a couple of close calls recently on the road, but none of their games have been close in their own gym.

As for the Volunteers, they have lost two of their last three on the road, and things are not getting easier. This is the 2nd of 5 straight ranked games for the Vols. They beat Mississippi State last time out, but they host Kentucky and Florida next week, followed by hosting the Missouri Tigers.

Can they rally on the road and take down the top ranked Tigers? Or will Auburn prove they are the team to beat in the SEC?

Can Auburn Continue Dominance Against Volunteers?

Johni Broome leads Auburn against Tennessee

Will Auburn take down Tennessee at home?

Auburn’s dominance all season long has been undeniable, especially at Neville Arena. They win by an average of 33.63 points per game in eight contests at home so far, and with Tennessee being nonexistent against Florida, I could see Auburn bringing the hammer down.

While Auburn is certainly not looking ahead as badly as Tennessee, they are on the road in Baton Rouge and Oxford next week. The Tigers will look to speed this game up, and give the most efficient offense in college basketball as many possessions as possible. Tennessee is used to playing slow, ranking north of 320 in pace.

The Volunteers will need to win this game on defense. They rank 3rd overall and 4th in eFG% defense, carrying over those statistics away from home as well. They give up offensive rebounds, which will be a problem tonight, as Johni Broome most likely returns to the court. As for a side or total in this game, personally I don’t want a part of either. But instead, I’ll turn to a player prop.

Can the Volunteers upset the Tigers?

Chaz Lanier shoots over 42.6% from beyond the arc this season

Tennessee vs Auburn Prediction: Auburn Wins, Tennessee Covers, Over 140

Best Bets: Chaz Lanier Over 2.5 3pt FG Made (+120) BetOnline

We are betting on volume here. The past two games, he’s been going off. He’s shot over 45% from the field in both contests, going 5/12 and 4/6 from deep in those games.

Now, this guy has no less than 6 thee point attempts in 15 straight games, hitting 3+ in 11 of those contests. This line is far too line, and I see an increase in possessions for the Volunteers as Auburn will speed things up. The Vols are Top 100 in 3P Rate as a team, shooting nearly 37% from the field away from home.

Lanier averages 3.6 threes per game on 8.5 attempts. Auburn drops from 15th to 107th in 3P Rate defense at home, allowing teams to shoot from downtown whenever they please. For plus money, I will gladly bet on a guy that will likely have double digit attempts from downtown.
