Seton Hall vs. NC State Best Bet
Day college basketball in November, we are so spoiled! Nothing hits harder than sweating out a bet while being on the clock. Luckily, I do not see us breaking a sweat in this matchup. I think the NC State Wolf Pack tear apart the Seton Hall Pirates in the Maui Invitational.
As a Big East die-hard, I am always looking for ways to attack each team in the conference. Seton Hall has been a cash cow with totals going under a lot over the last year and a half. No, we are not worried about the total in this one. I want to be all over the Wolf Pack Monday afternoon.
Weakest Schedule in the Nation
One of the number one reasons I do not want to wait around and see where the line moves is because I think the Wolf Pack completely dominate the Pirates. So far this season, Seton Hall has yet to face a team inside the top 200. The highest ranked team they have played is Monmouth, ranked 203 on Bart Torvik. Aside from that, their other four opponents are in the upper 280s and as low as 360. Haslametrics has Seton Hall playing the easiest schedule in the country up to this point, and I completely agree. At least NC State has taken on No. 57 VCU and No. 117 UAB. Sure, this will be both teams’ first test outside of their home gym, but at least it will not be NC State’s first top 50 test.
Struggling Offense
The Pirates are also horrendous at scoring inside, ranked 303rd in two-point offense. Overall on offense, they are 276th in eFG% offense. Again, the best team they have played this year is in the low 200s. The only reason this team is still somehow undefeated is because of their defense. Seton Hall has historically had a solid defense over the last two years. The reason this does not worry me is because it has yet to be tested. Plus, the Wolf Pack owns the tenth best offense in college basketball. They are top ten in eFG% offense, three-point percentage, and two-point percentage. NC State crashes the offensive boards too, ranking 50th in offensive rebounding. They also get to the line with ease and convert at a high rate.
Defensively, they are still top 80 in the country, very good at forcing turnovers and grabbing boards. For a team that runs at a fairly quick pace, they have yet to allow a team to hit 80 points. Trust me, Seton Hall will not end that streak tomorrow. That is the only guarantee I will make here. Even with the likelihood of extra possessions from NC State dictating the pace of play, I still do not think the Pirates score 70 on this defense.
Seton Hall faces its toughest test yet against a Wolf Pack team built to dominate. NC State’s elite offense and solid defense should control the game from start to finish. Expect the Pirates to struggle to keep pace, making this a confident spot to back the Wolf Pack against the spread in the Maui Invitational.
Best Bet: NC State -10.5 (-110) on BetOnline
