Nebraska vs UCF: College Basketball Crown Championship Best Bets

Back Nebraska to take down UCF today and win the first ever College Basketball Crown

It’s Championship Sunday in Sin City as the College Basketball Crown claims a winner today. The Nebraska Cornhuskers and UCF Knights battle it out in Las Vegas for a chance at some hardware and $300,000 in NIL money. The stakes are very high for both of these teams who won their semifinal matchup yesterday.

Nebraska finished bottom 3 in the Big Ten, thus missing the conference tournament. However, the team has pulled themselves up by their bootstraps and have won three straight, sitting just one win away from being the first ever College Basketball Crown Champions. But not if the Knights have anything to do with it.

UCF did not play well in conference play, finishing 7-13 in Big 12 play. They went 1-1 in the conference tournament, but got the invite to the inaugural CBC. The Knights have won three straight, including knocking off Big 12 rival Cincinnati in the quarterfinals. Will going to overtime against Villanova yesterday give them some tired legs today? Or will the Knights be ready to knock off the Huskers and win the prize money for themselves?

There hasn’t been much defense played in this tournament, and let’s just think about this turn around.

Nebraska played first yesterday, with their game ending around 1:00pm local time in Las Vegas. UCF played second, and they went to overtime, with their game ending more like 3:30-4:00pm local time in Sin City. While the Huskers only got an extra 2.5-3 hours of rest, in essentially a 24 hour turn around, those precious seconds could come into play to get these guys well rested.

This has not been a stretched out tournament like the Big Dance. Both teams have won three games this week, with this being their fourth game in just seven days. For UCF, this is actually their 4th game in just six days, having won on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday this week, while Nebraska won on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Fatigue is going to come into play late in this game, and I trust the Huskers’ legs to be a bit better rested. Nebraska has also been shooting very well this tournament, and I don’t see the UCF defense being capable of slowing them down.

Give me Big Red to win the first ever College Basketball Crown after missing out on an invite to the Big Ten Tournament.
