North Texas vs Oklahoma State: NIT Predictions

Best Bets: Oklahoma State ML (-122) BetOnline
Oklahoma State is at home in the NIT Quarterfinals, which they clearly care about based on their last two outings. The Cowboys beat Wichita State and SMU on their way to this round against North Texas, who has had much easier competition, beating Furman and Arkansas State.
Over the course of the season, the Cowboys are clearly the more battle tested team, playing in the Big 12 vs the American, and they’ve faced two harder schools in this tournament already. They have the benefit of playing in front of their home crowd as well, which should help rally them to a victory in my eyes.
We have very polarizing styles of play, as the Mean Green are bottom 5 in possessions per game while Oklahoma State is Top 15. As we know, the home team controls the pace of the game, and I see the Cowboys speeding things up enough to out run North Texas. I also think OSU has an incredible night from the free throw line as well.
The Cowboys are Top 20 in FT Rate overall and at home, averaging over 24 attempts from the stripe per contest. They don’t give up offensive rebounds and force plenty of turnovers as well, which should help them overall defensively. North Texas is a team that already ranks 293rd in FT Rate Defense, with that number ballooning to 335th on the road. They can’t keep their hands to themselves, and that could be the difference maker tonight.
