Against Division I opponents, MVSU has scored over this number in each game. However, both UAB and Murray State play at a lightning pace compared to Hawaii. The Rainbow Warriors currently rank between 199th and 274th in tempo, per Bart Torvik and Haslametrics. Meanwhile, UAB sits 27th and Murray State fifth. This will be the slowest team the Delta Devils have faced so far. On top of that, MVSU does not enjoy playing fast either, so they will be perfectly fine matching Hawaii’s patient style.

Not only will Hawaii be the slowest team MVSU has faced, they will also be the best defense. The Rainbow Warriors rank 50th in effective field goal percentage defense, 46th in turnover percentage defense, and sit inside the top 100 in both two-point and three-point defense. The 365th-ranked Delta Devils already have one of the weakest offenses in college basketball, and with all the travel they have endured, the offense should look even more out of sync than usual.

All signs point to another long night for Mississippi Valley State. The combination of fatigue, travel, and facing one of the most disciplined defenses in the country sets up poorly for an offense already struggling to find rhythm. Hawaii’s pace and defensive pressure should smother the Delta Devils from the opening tip, and points will be hard to come by. This is a tough spot for an overmatched team, making the MVSU team total under 54.5 a strong way to close out the night.
