Lafayette vs. West Virginia: Odds & Insights | November 17, 2025

Nothing like kicking off the week with some college hoops. The Lafayette Leopards head to Morgantown to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers. The Leopards are currently on a two game losing streak and are trying to make tonight’s matchup more interesting than the spread suggests. Meanwhile, the Mountaineers are undefeated, and their record is not the only thing that is 4-0 this season.

You know why we are here. Ross Hodge and his boys play basketball this evening. If you are unaware of the streak the Mountaineers are on, you came to the right place to find out. West Virginia is currently 4-0 to the under this season, going under in every game they have played. Yes, I am riding this thing out until the bitter end, and there is solid reasoning beyond the streak itself. The total opened at 134.50, which I grabbed Sunday afternoon. It has since bounced between 133 and 134. I still firmly believe the books have not yet caught up to what is going down in Morgantown. I would take this as low as 130 if I had to.

The pace of this game is going to be dictated by the Mountaineers, who are the fourth slowest team in the nation per Bart Torvik. The Leopards should be just fine with a slower pace as they rank 215th in tempo.

Lafayette is currently averaging 73 points per game this season while facing three teams inside the top 180. However, those opponents played at a much faster tempo than West Virginia. Cornell and Saint Josephs are both top 50 in pace, which is where Lafayette scored above 76. Their loss to Texas came in a much slower game and they managed only 60. Their lone win, which came against a non division one opponent, produced only 79 points. This Hodge led Mountaineers team is going to suffocate the Leopards on offense.

Through their first four games, West Virginia ranks top 50 in adjusted defensive efficiency, effective field goal percentage defense, turnover defense, defensive rebounding, two point defense, and three point defense. They are a powerhouse. On the other side, Lafayette owns one of the worst offenses in the country: 294th in adjusted offensive efficiency, 278th in offensive rebounding, 285th in three point percentage, and 342nd in free throw percentage. Their defense is just as poor.

With West Virginia coming off a blowout win over Pitt on Thursday and looking ahead to Clemson on Friday, this is an all time sandwich spot for the Mountaineers. They should still hold the Leopards under 60 points tonight, but I do not see them rolling them. I fully expect their streak to continue this evening.
