On Saturday at Rupp Arena, two unranked teams with plenty of history in their programs go head to head. Despite neither team being as good as expected early on, there is still time for both to turn things around. However, that starts on Saturday. The Indiana Hoosiers take on the Kentucky Wildcats, as both have played 10 games already this season. Will Darian DeVries lead his team to an upset victory on the road? Let’s find out with our favorite picks.

Indiana Hoosiers vs. Kentucky Wildcats NCAA Basketball Insights

Otega Oweh and the shorthanded Kentucky Wildcats host the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday
Indiana started off the season with seven straight wins. They were cruising, however, then things fell off the rails. After losing to Minnesota by nine on the road as eight point favorites, they lost to Louisville in Indianapolis. But earlier this week, they got back on track by blowing out the Penn State Nittany Lions, winning by 41 as 14.5 point favorites. Can they compete in Rupp Arena?
Kentucky has been utterly disappointing this year. They are just 6-4 overall and 4-6 against the spread. They have not covered in three straight, but two of those were outright losses to North Carolina and Gonzaga. The Wildcats have been dealing with plenty of injuries, as Jayden Quaintance still hasn’t made his debut for Big Blue Nation, and it won’t be on Saturday either. Will their other players step up in his absence? They certainly haven’t been doing that all season.

Kentucky is hurt without Quaintance, but they’ve been playing without him all year long. However, there are also two other injuries to monitor. Jaland Lowe has played in just four games all year. He played solid minutes the first two, but then sat out several contests. Against Gonzaga he played just 14 minutes and didn’t make a shot, while against NC Central he was held to just eight minutes and didn’t take a single field goal attempt.
Lastly, Mouhamed Dioubate has been out since the Wildcats lost to Michigan State in the Champions Classic. I would count on Quaintance and Dioubate sitting completely, with Lowe playing limited minutes.

Indiana vs. Kentucky Prediction: Kentucky Wins, Indiana Covers, Over 155
Best Bet: Indiana +4 (-110) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
I am going to let this line dance. It opened at -2.5 towards the Cats and quickly shot to -3.5. Now, most books are offering 4.5, but there are some +4s out there, as well as one +5.5 at the time of typing. If this gets to two possessions (+6), I will be backing the Hoosiers. I simply do not have faith in the Wildcats in their current state.
Indiana doesn’t mind playing fast, so Kentucky speeding this game up will just give this efficient offense more chances to score. The Hoosiers are top 21 in adjusted offensive efficiency and turnover rate, while jumping to top 12 in eFG%. They do not leave points anywhere, ranking No. 67 in FT%, No. 36 in 3P%, and No. 13 in 2P%. The Hoosiers are also top 35 in 3P Rate, so they take advantage of their sharpshooting from deep. Plus, without Dioubate, Kentucky’s rim protection isn’t as good.
Indiana also comes in ranked No. 17 in both adjusted defensive efficiency and eFG% defense, while limiting offensive rebounds as well (top 60). Kentucky does lots of things well offensively, but they struggle to get to the free throw line, and cannot force turnovers of their own. Their three point shooting won’t help them stay in this game, and ultimately I could see the Hoosiers pulling off this upset.
