Coming into the season, the UConn Huskies were +1200 to cut down the nets in Phoenix, now at +500 as of March 7th. This is the team to beat in the tournament. Far and away better than they were a year ago, the Huskies have the firepower to take it the distance, even if their run to the Final Four is more challenging than in 2023.
Yes, you read that correctly. This team is better than they were a year ago when they won the national championship in 2023. Now, a year later, ranked second in the nation, with a game left in the regular season. With Marquette’s star Tyler Kolek’s health being a massive question mark, they should easily coast through the Big East Tournament. Creighton would be the only team that would get in their way.
Speaking of the Bluejays, some would argue that their loss to Creighton made them fraudulent or not as great as we thought they were prior to that game. This is mind-blowing because of how well the Bluejays had to play and the schedule the Huskies had prior to that game. The Huskies, coming into that February 20th game, were coming off back-to-back road games prior to their home Saturday primetime game against Marquette at home, then had to travel halfway to the other side of the country to play Creighton.

Then, the Bluejays shot 54.7% from the field and 50% from behind the arc. So, from what I gathered from that loss, in order to defeat the Huskies, your entire team has to have the game of their lives.
I have felt this way for quite some time, after the Huskies loss to Kansas on December 1st in Allen Fieldhouse. I knew that if that game was on an neutral court the Huskies would win nine out of ten times. Plus, nobody wins in Lawrence, it is an extremely tough place to play.

Against top 50 schools this season, according to Bart Torvik, the Huskies are ranked inside the top 100 in almost every major category except turnover percentage defense, free throw rate defense, and offense. This team is the entire package, and being chalky white in this situation would not be wrong.
In my opinion, UConn matches up against any team in the country. They have the talent, size, and experience. Houston, Purdue, or Arizona would not stand a chance against this team. They are in a league of their own.
Take UConn to win the whole shebang.
