CS Northridge Matadors vs. Delaware Blue Hens Picks NCAA Basketball Picks

Back the Matadors with me on the road today. Northridge loves to play fast, and although Delaware is much slower, I think the visitors could speed things up a little bit, at least on offense. Plus, the Blue Hens offense won’t be able to keep up.

Delaware comes into this game ranked third worst in free throw rate, bottom 15 in offensive rebounds, and No. 297 in turnover rate. They cannot defend the three or force turnovers of their own, plus they are coming off a huge emotional win. Both teams have played their fair share of top 150 opponents, but the Blue Hens are coming off beating No. 72 George Washington on the road by 12 as 22.5 point underdogs.

Can someone say let down spot? I think the Matadors to win outright (but I’ll take the points).

Best Bet: Montana State/Oregon State Under 140.5 (-110) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

This one isn’t that complicated, we just have two slow teams that play better defense than offense. Oregon State actually ranks No. 329 in terms of possessions per game, averaging just over 65 per contest. It’s worth noting, they cannot offensive rebound either, ranking No. 280 in that category. Aside from their double overtime game, the Beavers have only had one game hit 70 possessions.

The Bobcats are a little faster, but still plenty slow. Montana State is No. 284 in terms of pace, and also No. 286 in offensive rebounding, so you can expect very few second chance opportunities from either side. The Bobcats struggle to get to the line, ranking bottom 35 in free throw rate. They also waste plenty of possessions with threes, as they are top 65 in 3P rate but drop to No. 217 in 3P%.

Honestly, neither team is really that special, and I simply see a boring game.

This is so clearly my favorite pick tonight that I had to drop it in this article too. Check out this piece for the complete sell job on the Zags, but I’ll give the quick synopsis here.

Gonzaga has been dominant in 9/10 games this year, with an impressive 9-1 record overall and 8-2 against the spread. They are too big, too physical, and too fast for the Bruins to keep up with them tonight. It will basically feel like a home game in Spokane, and this Zags team is just way too good, mature, and experienced.

Gonzaga is top 35 on both sides of the ball in overall efficiency, eFG%, turnover rate and rebounding, including ranking top 10 in offensive rebounding and overall efficiency (offense and defense). Plus they are No. 12 in eFG% defense. The Zags dominate. I was able to get -8.5, but this number is still a go for me.
