Best NCAA Basketball Picks and Predictions November 22

Wagner Seahawks vs. Georgetown Hoyas Picks NCAA Basketball Picks

KJ Lewis leads the Hoyas with 19 points, seven boards and 2.5 steals per game - NCAA Basketball Picks

KJ Lewis leads the Hoyas with 19 points, seven boards and 2.5 steals per game

Best Bet: Wagner/Georgetown Under 137 (-110) BetOnline

Back this game to be low scoring and slow. The Wagner Seahawks are the second slowest team in the country according to both Bart Torvik and Eric Haslam (Evan Miya has them fourth slowest just to cover all the advanced analytic sites). They average just 69.3 possessions per game, and that’s with one contest going into overtime. This team is nothing special, and they have a very bad offense, ranking north of 320 (bottom 45) in adjusted offensive efficiency, turnover rate, defensive rebounding, and free throw rate offense. Where are their points going to come from?

As for Georgetown, they have a big neutral site matchup against Dayton on Thanksgiving, so they may save their legs and coast to a double digit victory, given they are 23 point favorites. The Hoyas have to make sure they are ready to go against the Flyers. Sure, they may speed things up a bit, but Wagner’s offense won’t contribute to the total at all.

Neither team shoots many threes, and even when they do, they hardly go in for either side. All our analytical friends have this under 137, so I’ll start my Saturday with this bet at noon eastern.

UC-Santa Barbara Gauchos vs. Nevada Wolfpack NCAA Basketball Picks

Saint Mary's and UConn transfer, Aidan Mahaney puts up 15 points and four assists per game shooting 45.8% from beyond the arc - NCAA Basketball Picks

Saint Mary’s and UConn transfer, Aidan Mahaney puts up 15 points and four assists per game shooting 45.8% from beyond the arc

Best Bet: UCSB +6 (-110) BetOnline

I love this Gauchos team. Despite them coming off a loss to Loyola Marymount, I trust this team to pick themselves back up and make this contest competitive. We have two very slow teams who rank north of 300 in pace, so don’t expect a whole lot of points in this one in Reno. One might argue (me) that the Wolfpack could be overlooking the Gauchos as they face the Washington Huskies on Turkey Day (weird, same thinking as the Hoyas). Regardless, I don’t see very many points and see it coming down to the final possession.

Both team average about 70 possessions per game, but that includes an overtime contest for each side, so expect closer to 66-68 trips up and down the floor on Saturday. The Gauchos are very solid offensively, ranking top 80 in adjusted offensive efficiency and eFG%, plus they are top 15 at taking care of the basketball. They love to shoot from downtown, and do so very well, ranking top 140 in 3P rate while jumping to top 20 in 3P percentage, shooting at over 40% as a team to start the season.

They’ll have plenty of success doing so, as Nevada struggles to defend the perimeter. The Wolfpack rank north of 280 in 3P rate and 3P percentage defense, letting their opponents shoot over 36% from deep. If the Gauchos can light it up, which I think they can, they can keep it within two scores.

Milwaukee Panthers vs. Wichita State Shockers NCAA Basketball Picks

Karon Boyd puts in some solid minutes for the Shockers every game - NCAA Basketball Picks

Best Bet: Wichita State -10 (-110) BetOnline

Yes, yes, we are betting on the Shockers again!! So far we are 3-0 betting this team this season, as they are 4-0 against the spread. The Shockers are about middle of the pack in pace, but the Panthers love to run, so I see them trying to speed things up, giving Wichita State plenty of opportunities to cover the spread.

So far this season, the Shockers do two things that I love to see in teams I bet on. They value the rock, and crash the glass. Wichita State is top 35 in turnover rate and top 20 in offensive rebounding, so they get a good look most of the time down the floor and have plenty of second chance points. Defensively, they get in your face and contest shots, as they are top 30 in opponent eFG%.

Milwaukee ranks No. 299 in defensive rebounding and all of our analytic pals have the Shocks by double digits or more. I might be backing them on the spread until they fail to cover. This team is a cash cow early on.
