If you want my full thoughts on the College Hoops game of the night, check out my full piece here. But let me sell you on this player prop.

Kaufman-Renn is making his return for the Boilermakers in an already loaded front court, and he led this Boilermaker team in rebounding last season with 6.5 per game. Sure, he didn’t have Daniel Jacobsen or Oscar Cluff to compete with, but he’s used to doing the dirty work for Matt Painter’s crew, and I expect him to pick up right where he left off.

The six foot nine 240 pound forward had at least seven rebounds in six of his last seven games to close out last season, including having eight against Alabama earlier in the year. He also cleared this line (with ease) in eight of 10 ranked matchups away from home for Purdue last season, proving to us bettors that he shows up in big games when his team needs him on the road.

The Crimson Tide’s front court has plenty of question marks already this year, and I expect the veteran to bully them on the boards tonight. As we know with Alabama’s pace, there should be plenty of possessions in this game. The Tide have missed 69 field goal attempts in just two games this year, which means there will be tons of opportunities for Kaufman-Renn to do his part on the glass.

Before I get into this, let me say I was able to snag the Shockers at -2.5 last night, but I am okay with the -5, as they should handle business at home. Loyola Chicago is coming off two losses to Mercyhurst and North Texas, both of which were at home. They also barely snuck out a win against Cleveland State, struggling against two teams ranked No. 257 and No. 338 in the country. So far this season, they have been way too underwhelming. Are they bound for a bounce back spot? Sure. Just not in their first road game of the year.

Wichita State covered with ease in both of their wins already this season. We see a high total because they like to run, which should give us ample opportunity to cover the spread. The Shockers come into this game ranking No. 8 in the entire country in offensive rebounding rate, and could really clean up some second chance opportunities tonight with Loyola ranking north of 300 in offensive rebounds allowed.

The hosts are also much deeper than their visitors. Through two games, Wichita State has 10 guys averaging at least 10 minutes per game, with five scorers putting up double figures as well. They force over eight steals a game while committing just 12 turnovers and are shooting nearly 36% from beyond the arc. This spot just seems a bit too easy for the hosts to cover (famous last words).
