Best NCAA Basketball Picks and Predictions November 6

The Citadel vs. Boston College NCAA Basketball Picks

Boden Kapke has 17 points and 8 rebounds in the Golden Eagles opener - NCAA Basketball Picks

Boden Kapke has 17 points and 8 rebounds in the Golden Eagles opener

Best Bet: The Citadel/Boston College Under 143.5 (-105) BetOnline

Get ready to sweat, because we are betting on a classic under in the College Hoops world tonight. The Golden Eagles have their home opener after losing to Florida Atlantic on the road in overtime to start their season. Boston College scored 78 points in regulation and overtime only to come up short, but they were sped up all game. The Owls rank top 100 in adjusted tempo, meaning they got the Golden Eagles to play at their pace.

Typically, Boston College is closer to No. 250 in pace in the country, and they did not shoot the ball very, melting away a nine point lead with just five minutes on the clock. Point being, they like to play slower, they haven’t been lighting it up, and they might have some tired legs after their overtime contest with the Owls.

Now, what about the Citadel? We can’t take much from their win over Division II Erskine where they scored 105 points, however last season they played Boson College tight, losing 69-60 on the road. This Bulldogs team went just 5-25 last season, and anything will be an improvement this year. Look for their defense to really come to play tonight, as they try to slow down their hosts.

Campbell vs. West Virginia NCAA Basketball Picks

Floyd led all Mountaineers scorers with 25 points last game - NCAA Basketball Picks

Floyd led all Mountaineers scorers with 25 points last game

Best Bet: Campbell/West Virginia Under 141 (-105) BetOnline

This is a bit of an Up Your Units collab play, as my co-host Colby Marchio is all over this pick as well. Be sure to check out his full analysis on the game here, but I’ll give you the spark notes version.

The Mountaineers are led by a new head coach this season, a Mr. Ross Hodge, who spent the last few years coaching the North Texas Mean Green. For those unaware, Hodge’s teams are some of the slowest in all of the country, but they are incredibly efficient on offense, and play “get in your face” lock down defense on the other end, famously giving us hilariously low totals, that still end up going under. Nothing is changing in Morgantown.

In their first game, West Virginia hosted Mount St. Mary’s with a total of 136.5. The game soared under, as the Mountaineers (West Virginia) beat the other Mountaineers (Mount St. Mary’s), 70-54. This team should have no problem holding the Campbell Fighting Camels well under the total today.

Jackson State vs. #11 Louisville NCAA Basketball Picks

Pat Kelsey and the Louisville Cardinals host Jackson State tonight at home - NCAA Basketball Picks

Pat Kelsey and the Louisville Cardinals host Jackson State tonight at home

Best Bet: Louisville -36 (-105) BetOnline

This line has steamed up a bit, but I am not worried about it. Personally, I was looking at the Cardinals Team Total in this matchup, but for them to score triple digits, I think I’d rather just back them to cover.

Louisville just scored 104 on South Carolina State, allowing only 45 from the Bulldogs. Pat Kelsey has his team fired up, ready to go, and they do have an insanely stacked lineup. Now they host Jackson State before preparing for Kentucky next Tuesday. Could this be a look ahead spot? Sure, but this early in the year, I believe Kelsey will have his guys focused in a “tune up” game before hosting the Wildcats.

Jackson State also just allowed 111 points to the Illinois Fighting Illini, who are comparable in tempo and talent to Louisville. Both teams rank top 20 in pace and will certainly both be ranked nearly every week throughout the season. The Cardinals should have no problem covering this big number at home.
