Two top 20 teams go head to head on Saturday in a neutral site showdown. John Calipari leads his No. 17 ranked Arkansas Razorbacks into Dallas to take on the No. 16 Texas Tech Red Raiders. This battle is happening at American Airlines Center, roughly five hours from both campuses, so things could be split fairly 50/50 in the crowd. Both teams are coming off a dominating win, ironically by the same score, 82-58. But someone has to lose on Saturday, so let’s find out who it might be with our favorite picks.

#17 Arkansas Razorbacks vs. #16 Texas Tech Red Raiders NCAA Basketball Insights

Darius Acuff Jr. and the Razorbacks are short underdogs to Texas Tech on a neutral site
Both of these teams come into this game at 7-2 on the season. The Razorbacks have two losses to two teams in the top 10. Arkansas lost by three points to the Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing, and also lost to Duke by nine on Thanksgiving in Chicago. However, they bounced back with a win over Louisville at Bud Walton Arena. Will they be able to pick themselves up against another ranked foe?
Texas Tech has lost both of their ranked matchups. They went into the State Farm Center and lost to the Illini by four, and then were blown out by Purdue in the Baha Mar Championship, losing by 30 to the Boilermakers. Otherwise, they haven’t really been tested, but have had a couple close calls, beating Wake Forest by one and Wyoming by just four. Could Arkansas give them some trouble on a neutral site?

Spread
- Arkansas +1.5 (-110)
- Texas Tech -1.5 (-110)
Total
- Over 152 (-110)
- Under 152 (-110)
The Razorbacks will try to run. They want to get up and down the floor, ranking No. 51 in possessions per game. They take great care of the basketball and keep teams off the free throw line. However, they struggle to force turnovers of their own, and are just okay at shooting the basketball. Rebounding could also be an issue this weekend.

Arkansas vs. Texas Tech Prediction: Texas Tech Wins and Covers, Under 152
Best Bet: Texas Tech -1.5 (-110) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
Full transparency, I took the spread out of the equation and just booked the Red Raiders to win at -125. Either play is good with me, as I see them getting it done. The Razorbacks are north of 140 in rebounding on both sides of the basketball, and are in the bottom half of the country offensively. Texas Tech ranks top 45 in offensive rebounds, and top 105 in defensive rebounding. The Red Raiders should dominate the glass in Dallas, which should lead to them winning this game.
Texas Tech will try and slow this game down, limiting the offensive chances of the Razorbacks. They defend the perimeter as good as anyone in the country, and utilize the three ball on the other side of the court, ranking top 70 in both 3P Rate and 3P%, knocking down over 36.5% of their shots from deep as a team.
Arkansas struggled against Michigan State and Duke, two teams that play very slow and are rock solid defensively. Texas Tech fits that description as well. Sure they might be slightly undersized, but the rebounding numbers are in their favor, and their guards have the experience that Arkansas’ freshmen don’t. I see that leadership and maturity leading the Red Raiders to a win in Dallas.
