#4 Arizona vs. #3 UConn Best Bet
Welcome into the game of the night. Do not even try to tell me the MACtion games will have your full attention. You are a liar. The No. 4 Arizona Wildcats head to Storrs to take on the No. 3 UConn Huskies. Both teams enter tonight undefeated and looking to stay perfect. The Huskies are coming off a close call in Provo, taking down the Cougars 86 to 84. The Wildcats are fresh off a strong win over UCLA on Friday 69 to 65. Can Arizona secure another statement victory away from home. Let us dive in.
Line Movement
The line opened Tuesday afternoon at 4.5 in favor of the Huskies. As for the total, it has stayed firm at 156.5 on most books. However, on BetOnline it has climbed by one point. I grabbed UConn at 4.5 yesterday and did not expect this much early buy in on the Huskies. I still think this is a spot where they show up and show out on their home court, while Arizona faces its first true road test of the season. At the current number I would say wait and see if there is buy back on Arizona. However, I think the Huskies do damage at home tonight.
Home Huskies
I have had the Huskies circled in this spot since Arizona went into UCLA. The Wildcats are dealing with early travel demands and with UConn returning home after a tight win at BYU, this feels like an ideal spot to back the Huskies.
Yes, Arizona has taken down top ranked Florida and UCLA to start the season on neutral site courts. However, this is their first true road challenge. The Husky faithful will come ready and Storrs will be a complete madhouse.
UConn will need to do everything possible to dictate the pace and slow down the Wildcats, who currently rank 43rd in pace, while the Huskies sit as the 22nd slowest team in the nation per Haslametrics.
Another area where the Huskies can create separation is from beyond the arc. UConn does not rely heavily on the three, but when they take them, they shoot them with serious efficiency. They currently rank 29th in three-point percentage. The Wildcats are coming off a game where they allowed UCLA to shoot nine for seventeen from deep. Through four games Arizona ranks 145th in three-point defense. If the Huskies find clean looks from deep, they should have plenty of success.
UConn returns home in a perfect situational spot, while Arizona steps into its first true road test of the season. The Huskies have the advantage in pace control, outside shooting efficiency, and overall experience in tight environments. Arizona has quality wins, but neutral site success is not the same as walking into a charged building in Storrs. If UConn can slow the Wildcats in transition and generate clean looks from deep, they should be able to create separation late. With the line climbing, market support continues to lean toward the home side. I trust the Huskies to deliver.
Best Bet: UConn -7.5 (-110) on BetOnline
