Warriors vs. Bucks| Analysis

All Smiles in the Bay

The Warriors have won four of their first five games this year, with impressive wins over the Lakers, Nuggets and Clippers along the way. Stephen Curry’s averaging 27.0 points per game and the team’s coming off a blowout win over the Clippers. Curry played just 26 minutes, finishing with 19 points and eight assists on the night.

In addition to Steph, Jimmy Butler’s been great to start the year. He’s averaging 21.4 points per game this year and just under five rebounds and five assists per game. He’s shooting 54% from the field and really taking on the role of second scoring option in the Bay. Enough of the old heads, let’s talk about some of this youth in Golden State.

Jonathan Kuminga entered the season with his status in Golden State very much up in the air. Nonetheless, he started the season in the starting lineup and he’s paid dividends so far for the Warriors. Kuminga’s averaging 16.2 points per game this year, third most on the Warriors. He’s the Dubs’ leading rebounder, averaging 7.4 a game and 2.2 offensive rebounds per game.

Mask On

I’ve said this before, the Milwaukee Bucks are constructed for Giannis Antetokounmpo to average close to 35 points per game. So far this year, he’s doing exactly that. Milwaukee has no true second option on the offensive side and so far this year we’ve seen someone different step up in each respective game.

In the Bucks most recent win over the Knicks, it was the second year PG, Ryan Rollins. Rollins finished with 25 points on the night, shooting 73% from the field and finishing a perfect 4/4 from three. In the game against Cleveland we saw AJ Green put up 20 points, against the Raptors it was both Gary Trent Jr. and Cole Anthony combining for 43 of their own points.

Milwaukee has no ‘true’ second option but that’s opened up opportunities for other guys to step and help the Bucks to this 3-1 record.

Our Best Bet in the Warriors/Bucks Game, October 30th

Giannis Antetokounmpo o30.5 Points (-105) | BetOnline

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Giannis is averaging 36.3 points per game this year, he’s shooting 69.5% from the field and averaging FOUR offensive rebounds per game. He’s doing literally everything for this Bucks team and that’s something I don’t expect to change anytime soon.

Giannis ranks 2nd in the NBA with a 35.6% usage rate. He’s scoring 41.2% of Milwaukee’s points this year and 55.3% of the team’s free throw attempts. The Warriors lack front court depth and that’s why this is a spot I’m looking to take advantage of.

Golden State ranks 21st in points allowed in the paint and that’s exactly where we’ve seen Giannis do most of his damage. He’s taking nearly 21 shot attempts per game, getting to the line for almost 11 free throw attempts a game and should see north of 35 minutes today.

Milwaukee’s coming into this one as a three point dog at home, with the total set to 232. This feels like a spot where if we’re going to see points and a close game, Giannis is in store for a big night.

Jonathan Kuminga 25.5 PRA (-105) | BetOnline

Jonathan Kuminga

Kuminga and Steve Kerr might finally be on the same page and it’s helped lead to a 4-1 record for the Warriors and to Jonathan Kuminga looking the best he’s ever looked. It’s just a five game sample size, so let’s not get crazy, but Kuminga’s averaging 16.2 points per game and 7.4 rebounds. He’s the third leading scorer on the Warriors and the team’s leading rebounder.

Kuminga’s playing alongside the starters now and he’s cleared this line in three of his five games. One of the misses came in their most recent blowout win over the Clippers, where Kuminga played just 26 minutes and had his worst shooting night of the season.

Kuminga’s also averaging 6.6 potential assists per game and while I don’t expect that to stick, he is showing an in increased level of awareness and it’s lead to an increase his in his assist numbers. Add to that the fact he now plays with the starting unit and the greatest shooter of all time, assist opportunities will be there.
