Timberwolves vs. Thunder | Game 2 Recap

Result: Thunder (118) – Timberwolves (103)
The Western Conference Finals have been nothing but one sided. The Thunder look like the far and away better team and they’ve shown it through the first two games of this series. Oklahoma City has won both games by 15+ points and have held the Wolves to just 191 total points through two games.
Oklahoma City just simply looks like the better team. The Timberwolves looked rusty from the jump in Game 1 and that continued throughout Game 2. The team shot just 28% from the 3 and missed a countless number of wide open 3s.
Julius Randle led the Timberwolves with 28 points and 8 rebounds in Game 1, but was struggled to find his rhythm in Game 2. Randle finished with just 6 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Antman finally had that big game, recording 32 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. It was his 3-point shooting that left much to be desired. Edwards shot 1/9 from beyond the arc and it’s something he’ll have to correct if they hope to tie this series up.
Most Valuable Player
For the Thunder, it was their MVP once again taking the reigns. Shai finished with an efficient 38 points on 57% from the field, in addition to 8 assists and just 1 turnover. Jalen Williams once again had a big game, scoring 25 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and recording 5 assists.
Oklahoma City has taken control of this series and it’s on Minnesota now to show some life.

Our Best Bets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals
Julius Randle o12.5 A/R (+110 via BetOnline)

The Timberwolves Towers
Randle has arguably been the Timberwolves most consistent player this postseason and that’s no knock on Antman; he’s just been that good. Julius is averaging a 24.6 PPG on shooting splits of 52/39/88 and averaging 6.1 RPG and 5.5 APG.
Randle finished with 8 rebounds and just 1 assist in Game 1, despite dishing out 10 potential assists. Minnesota just couldn’t get the lid off the basket. The team took 51 3-point attempts, only made 25% of those attempts and scored just 88 points as a team. Minnesota looked rusty and like the days off did more harm, than good.
In Game 2, Randle was MIA. He finished the game with just 6 points and 10 combined assists/rebounds. Randle didn’t play the 4th quarter of Game 2 and it looks like that was a call made by head coach Christ Finch.
Down 2-0 to the #1 seed, you can’t drop Game 3 on you’re home floor. Randle’s benching in Game 2 is call for concern, but it’s not something Finch can afford to do if they hope to stay in this series.
Look for Randle to respond tonight and continue the tear he’s been on in the postseason.
Jaden McDaniels o19.5 PRA (-119 via BetOnline)

Jaden McDaniels picked up 6 fouls in just 23 minutes of game time in the series opener. Mainly due to being the primarry defender on Shai, but also due to some terrible officiating. In Game 2, he responded with 22 points and shot above 50% from the field.
McDaniels is going to be playing a ton of minutes in this series. He’s played 37, 40, and 43 minutes in his last 3 matchups with Oklahoma City prior to the postseason; and played 35 minutes in Game 2. He’s averaging 36 MPG so far in the postseason, sitting behind only Antman (39 MPG) and Julius Randle (38 MPG).
McDaniels has cleared this line in 4 of his L6 games against the Thunder this year, so I’m going right back.
