After claiming the #3 seed in the Western Conference, the Timberwolves received a potentially tough draw as they went up against Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and the Suns. However, it was Phoenix who was in for a rough time.

Now, can they hang with and take out the second-seeded Nuggets? In the first round, Denver got quite the fight from the Los Angeles Lakers, who led at halftime in every game of the series and in the fourth quarter in every game besides Game 3.

In the regular season, Minnesota and Denver split their four meetings. Each team won once at home and once at the other team’s building. The Timberwolves won at the Target Center on November 1 and at Ball Arena on March 29, while the Nuggets won at the Target Center on March 19 and at Ball Arena on April 10.
Winning in Denver in the regular season is certainly an achievement, given that the Nuggets are 67-15 at home across the last two regular seasons.
Winning in Denver in the playoffs is a much stiffer challenge, however. After winning all three of their home games against the Lakers, the Nuggets are 14-1 in their last 15 home playoff games.
Can the Timberwolves do only what the Miami Heat have done since the start of last year’s playoffs? While the Suns fell far short of expectations, what Minnesota did in sweeping them is an extremely impressive feat, especially considering that there was only one other sweep in the first round.
