Indiana Pacers @ New York Knicks Game 5
By now we’ve all seen it. The epic night inside of Gainbridge Fieldhouse that Tyrese Haliburton and the NBA world will never forget. As their leader put together a masterclass, the team took a 3-1 stranglehold on the series. The lower seeded boys in Gold and Blue now have a chance to end their rivals postseason on their own floor. With how this series has gone, it is hard to believe Tom Thibodeau and the Knickerbockers changing the trajectory of their season, and stave off elimination.
Tyrese Haliburton became the only player ever to carry 30/15/10 with no turnovers in the postseason since turnovers were first recorded in 1977-78. This may very well be the only game of its kind we have ever seen. Furthermore, Indiana’s max money man was fantastic. Pascal Siakam provides relentless defence on and off the ball. He also gave the Knicks a 30-piece. To add insult to injury, former highly drafted Knick, Obi Toppin, had the pleasure of hitting the dagger with less than a minute to go.

Jalen Brunson is averaging 33.3 points per game in the series and it still hasn’t been enough.
Pacers-Knicks Game 5 Analysis
Indiana: No notes. There’s nothing I can say nor adjustments to suggest.
Conversely, the Knicks are in dire trouble. “We’ve all got to be better,” said Towns in the postgame presser. Interestingly, Brunson had 31, KAT had 24, and OG scored 22. How much better can an NBA team be?
The Knicks need to figure it out and be better defensively. They have continued to trade baskets and it just has not worked. They have no path to victory unless they can impose their style of play and limit the Pacers opportunities to play their game. This is their last chance to turn this into a street fight in the back alley. They need to foul aggressively, then turn this into a game of half court sets, not free flowing offense, and they simply haven’t shown an ability to do that in this series.
Conclusively, if they win this game it’s because Jalen Brunson wears their jersey and the Knicks coaching staff gave the players enough adjustments to change this series. I am skeptical.
Is the KAT going to Meow?
Karl-Anthony Towns is currently listed as questionable due to a knee injury. He took a couple of hits to the area during the last game. Towns was clearly hobbled by the injury in the final frame of Game 4. However, Towns is averaging 21.3 points per game in this series, he is Robin to Brunson’s Batman, and for that reason KAT likely plays. Based on Karl-Anthony Towns postgame comments, it is a good bet that he plays.
“We’ve been a team that has kind of found a way to do the impossible when it always seemed impossible. We just keep fighting. It’s gonna be a testament to our whole playoff run. Now we have to be in one of the biggest fights of our lives and of our season.”

Key Outlier.Bet Insights
- The over hit in 10 of the Indiana Pacers last 13 games on the road. Just like this series, the Pacers make you play their game, even in your own arena.
- The New York Knicks are 25-9 (73.5%) in their last 34 games as a favorite. New York is still a very good team. They are also 10-5 ATS in their last 15 games as a favorite.
- Andrew Nembhard has exceeded 10.5 points in six straight games on the road (16.8 points/game average). The Canadian Kid has a had a quiet series averaging just 9.8 points per game. He averaged 15.0 ppg. in round one and 14.2 ppg. in round two. Some would say he is due.
- Mikal Bridges has exceeded 24.5 PRA in five of his last six games at home. During the regular season, Mikal averaged 15.6 points on the road, but at home he averaged 19.6 points.
NBA Best Bet: IND Pacers o109.5 Points
Keeping it simple here. This team scores. In only one game this series were they slowed. I think the Pacers win here, but since the Knicks are still a really good team, I’m taking the Pacers team total just in case.
