Los Angeles Lakers +3.5 (-110) @ Portland Trail Blazers

Since losing 122-108 to Portland last week, the Lakers have bounced back with three straight wins. Maybe that loss lit a fire under them – or, more likely, it coincided with the return of Luka Dončić.

He rejoined the lineup in the Lakers’ matchup at Memphis, scoring 44 points and leading them to a 117-112 road win. He followed that up with a 29-point performance against Miami, where Los Angeles held on for a 130-120 victory.

Tonight, the Lakers are catching +3.5 points in Portland against a Blazers team riding its own three-game win streak.

This line should be closer to a pick’em. Los Angeles will be looking for revenge after losing to this same team last week, and now they have their best player back in the lineup. Statistically, the Lakers also match up well.

They rank second in offensive effective field goal percentage and fifth in points per 100 possessions, while Portland sits just 20th in defensive eFG% allowed. Defensively, the Lakers are around league average, but they’ll benefit from facing a mediocre Blazers offense that ranks 26th in eFG% and 15th in points per 100 possessions.

Another notable edge: the Lakers thrive from mid-range, taking 34.9% of their shots from there (2nd in the NBA) and converting at a league-best 61.6%. The Blazers, meanwhile, rank dead last in opponent field goal percentage allowed from mid-range.

Look for the Lakers to get their revenge in Portland, and keep an eye on this player prop in the matchup…

Jrue Holiday Under 16.5 Points (-105)

In their first matchup, Holiday was remarkably efficient, shooting 67% from the field and scoring 24 points. It’s unlikely he replicates that kind of performance tonight. He’s averaging 18 points per game on the season and has stayed under 16.5 in half of his appearances. This prop line seems inflated due to recency bias from that prior meeting, which should be viewed as an aberration.

DeMar DeRozan Under 22.5 Points (-110)

The Kings travel to the Mile High City to take on Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets on Monday night. There isn’t much overanalyzing needed for this prop. As every NBA fan knows, DeMar DeRozan lives and dies by the mid-range jumper. The problem? He’s up against a Denver team that ranks third in opponent field goal percentage from that area (36.7%) and seventh in the rate of mid-range attempts allowed (26%).

This is a solid spot to sell high on DeRozan.

Jarace Walker Under 14.5 Points (-107)

The Indiana Pacers host the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday evening, and this matchup could lead to a quieter offensive night for Jarace Walker. His points prop looks a bit inflated given his inconsistency – he’s averaging just 12.2 points per game and has been a volatile scorer, with point totals of 13, 6, 6, 20, 17, and 6 through six outings. Nearly half of his shots (49%) come from beyond the arc, but Milwaukee defends that area well, ranking 11th in opponent three-point attempt rate (37.2%) and 14th in opponent three-point percentage (35.5%).

Given the matchup and his streaky scoring profile, this feels like a good spot to fade Walker.

Cooper Flagg Under 6.5 Rebounds (+100)

This is a prop I’ve been keeping an eye on throughout the season. The rookie is averaging 6.2 rebounds per game and has gone over this number in only half of his outings. The under should be more heavily juiced here, as Flagg faces a tough matchup on the boards against the league’s top rebounding team – the Houston Rockets – who lead the NBA in rebounding percentage at 56.6%.

Best Bets:

NBA record: 17-12 (+3.71 units)
