New York Knicks @ Indiana Pacers Game 6
The Knicks earned just their first win inside of MSG this series in Game 5. However, the real story is how it happened. “It’s a testament to our team answering the call,” Towns said. They answered the call screaming with the roar from the New York faithful right there with them. The Knicks were never down and the Pacers never even tied the basketball game. This was pure and impressive domination from the tip.
Brunson scored 32 points that felt like 64 because he was there whenever his team needed him. He was 12-18 overall and 4-7 on his way to a masterclass that rivalled his counterpart’s from the game prior. Brunson has been an alpha dog all postseason. It was a joy to see his play in Game 5.
Conversely, Tyrese Haliburton’s performance did not spark joy. All of the Pacers were bad but the wheels fell off the Hali-wagon leaving his team dead on the Oregon Trail. Haliburton attempted just seven total shots. He looked stifled and surprised by the effort and intensity of the Knicks. He also had a series low 2 rebounds in 32 minutes. That tells me Tyrese just wasn’t mentally in the game.
The Hali Conundrum
Haliburton has to shoot the basketball!
The only way the Pacer’s motion offence can be at its best is when the initiator is a threat to shoot from deep or drive. It is absolutely not a coincide that Tyrese averages 3.0 rebounds in losses and 3.9 in wins. Furthermore, he averages 12.4 FG attempts in losses but 14.6 FG attempts in win. If Hali-wagon isn’t shooting and rebounding the Pacers suffer. Their system requires it.
If the lane is clogged and the first shot doesn’t fall then he has a tendency to disappear. That cannot happen again because if there’s a Game 7 inside of MSG? Good luck.
Over the last two years, the Pacers are 13-3 in the playoffs when Tyrese Haliburton attempts at least 15 shots.
In games when Haliburton shoots less than 10 times, Indiana’s postseason record is 1-6.

The Big Bodega has been purring this postseason. He has a double-double in 4 of the 5 games already played.
Pacers-Knicks Game 6 NBA Analysis
The Knicks did it! They were pulling jerseys in transition, bumping bodies before the inbounds, and just being a nasty team. That played out perfectly. Indiana got punched in the mouth and they hated the taste of their own blood. More of that Knicks and you’ll be able to do the improbable. They won the battle in the paint by a heavy margin while also winning the rebounding battle. The Knicks won a game where they shot 27.6% from three and 68.2% from the line. When it turned into a back alley bar fight they came out on top.
The Pacers path to victory is slowing KAT because that’s the easier task than Brunson. Karl-Anthony Town was a flailing man against boys in Game 5. His drives were brutal. Someone on Indiana needs to step up and take a charge on him. It is well documented that Towns quickly piles up the fouls. One easy way to get that started is sacrificing the body on the drive for the charge. Their path to victory is assuredly their offence returning to form. However, that won’t matter if Towns is cleaning the glass, getting 2nd chance points, and and-1 opportunities.
Conclusively, the pressure is already shifting to the Pacers. The Blue & Gold had 20 turnovers last game. Their most of this postseason. Also, Indiana is one game up but the Knicks actually have an edge in total scoring this series (582-576). Most of the games in the series could have gone either way. Now? I think Game 6 could honestly go either way!
Key Outlier.Bet Insights
- The Indiana Pacers are 18-4 in their last 22 games at home. If the Pacers got their feelings hurt last game then their home faithful will salve their sadness.
- The New York Knicks are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games on the road.
- Andrew Nembhard has exceeded 7.5 rebounds + assists in 12 of his last 15 games at home. However, he’s been bad in this series. He’s either due or this is just a bad matchup for him.
- Karl-Anthony Towns has exceeded 6.5 1Q PRA in 14 of his last 18 games on the road, the Knicks need him from the jump, and Pacers need to stop his constant fast starts.
- Jalen Brunson has failed to exceed 41.5 PRA in 5 straight games on the road. Emotional win at home now you have to go to the Fieldhouse. At what point does this man run out of gas?
- Josh Hart has exceeded 18.5 PR in 6 of his last 7 games on the road. He’s accepted a role off the bench but the minutes are still there. 34 minutes last game with 22 PR.
NBA Best Bet: Pascal Siakam o20.5 Points (-115)
He’s had a bad game, good game, bad game, good game, and bad game. So, good game? He averages 23.6 in his last 5 but this line has only hit twice with a median of 17. However, when he goes over then he decides to pole vault over it like he’s on Cameroon’s Olympic team.
