When the draw for the knockout stages of Eurobasket 2025 was settled, many would have been expecting Serbia and France to face off in a quarterfinal matchup of tournament favorites. But after two momentous upsets in the Round of 16, we instead have a Finland vs. Georgia matchup that will bring a historic moment for the winner.
Three years, Finland made the Eurobasket quarterfinals for the first time since the tournament has had such a round, and they had the better of Spain for more than a half before the superior team took over.
Now, they are back in the final eight, taking on a Georgia squad that is in the Eurobasket quarters for the first time eve after never finishing better than 11th in five previous tournament appearances.
In the Round of 16, Finland stunned Nikola Jokic and Serbia 92-86, using a late 14-4 run to take the lead and pull away. Georgia, meanwhile, got out ahead of France early and rarely relinquished the lead on the way to a shocking 80-70 victory.
The winner of this matchup will move on to face either Germany or Slovenia in the semifinals on Friday, while the loser will be able to look back on a successful tournament while also wondering “What if?”
But who will that winner be? Read on for our Finland vs. Georgia basketball prediction and picks. Also, get the best value odds from BetOnline and other top online sportsbooks.

Finland vs. Georgia Prediction and Picks
Prediction: Finland to win
Georgia opened the tournament with a major upset, knocking off Spain 83-69. That was a sign of things to come for Spain, who dusted Bosnia & Herzegovina and Cyprus before losing to Italy and Greece and exiting the tournament before the knockout stages for the first time since 1977.
It wasn’t exactly a sign of things to come for Georgia, who won only one more group game (vs. Cyprus) and lost to Italy by 16, Greece by 41, and Bosnia & Herzegovina by eight.
But just as they did against Spain, Georgia got out ahead of France early, and that keyed a confident performance that saw them excel offensively and defensively. They shot 55.6% (10 for 18) from three and 52.1% overall from the field, and they held France to only 35.2% from the field and 16.7% (6 for 36) from three.
Can Georgia muster up another masterpiece vs. Finland? They forced France to fire off 36 threes, which isn’t their game and wasn’t the best path to victory.
Keeping Finland under 80 points is the task defensively. That is a tough ask, but it isn’t impossible. Finland may not shoot 42 threes like against Serbia, but they do need to make some shots from outside.
More importantly though, can Georgia replicate the offensive execution that they displayed vs. France? They are more likely to take a step back in that department, and that’s where I think the game will get away from them eventually. Kamar Baldwin exploded for 24 points against France, but a repeat performance is asking a lot of him.
This shouldn’t be a blowout by any means. In fact, it should be a closer game throughout. But Finland should take the win and reach the Eurobasket semifinals for the first time ever.
Finland vs. Georgia Picks
1) Finland -4 (-112 at BetOnline)
Georgia’s a tough team and unlikely to be put away easily, but only two of three of the first ten games in the Round of 16 and quarterfinals have been decided by two possessions, and the closest of those was Greece’s 84-79 win over Israel in the Round of 16.
This was at -5.5 last night and has moved to -4 this morning, which is a great spot to grab it if you think Finland will win.
2) Kamar Baldwin Over 14.5 Points (-125 at Lucky Rebel)
After opening Eurobasket 2025 with a dozen points against Spain, Baldwin scored nine, three, and eight in his next three before finishing group play with 18 points in an 84-76 loss to Bosnia & Herzegovina.
That performance laid the foundation for his game-changing performance against France, in which he made 8 of 10 shots from the field (including three of four attempts from three).
Can he keep it up and keep Georgia in the game vs. Finland? That will be a tough ask, but this is a reasonable target. Even if he can’t match his exploits from the last two games, he will get enough scoring opportunities to hit this number.
3) Mikael Jantunen Over 10.5 Points (+100 at Bovada)
In the win over Serbia, Jantunen was Finland’s second-leading scorer behind Markkanen (29 points) with 15 points. He took eight shots and made five, including two of four from outside.
In six games in the tournament, Jantunen has scored 11 or more points four times, and he has taken at least seven shots in every game but one. He is also shooting well for the tournament, making 47.8% of his shots from three and 50% from the field. This is one of my favorite plays on the board for the quarters.
