NASCAR Xfinity Series Pacific Office Automation 147 Predictions & Picks

Connor Zilisch (pictured) leads the NASCAR Xfinity Series in wins in 2025 - 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series Pacific Office Automation 147 Predictions & Picks

While the playoffs in the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series both get underway this weekend at Darlington, the Xfinity Series takes a detour out west to Portland Raceway for the penultimate race of the regular season, the Pacific Office Automation 147. Today’s race is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, and as with all other Xfinity Series races, will be broadcast by the CW.

Entering the 25th race of the 33-race season, the regular season title remains undecided, with three drivers in play. Justin Allgaier, the 2024 Xfinity Series champion, enters today’s race with a three-point lead over Connor Zilisch.

Zilisch drove only 15 laps in last week’s Wawa 250 as he continues to recover from a broken collarbone before Parker Kligerman replaced him and drove the car to the victory ahead of Sammy Smith. But because Zilisch started the race, he was credited with the points and the win, his series-leading seventh.

Five of those seven wins have come in the last six races, with the outlier a victory at Iowa Speedway by Sam Mayer, who sits 26 points behind Allgaier and very much still in the mix for the regular season title.

Pacific Office Automation 147 Drivers to Watch

  • Connor Zilisch: Zilisch owns road course wins this season at Circuit of the Americas, Sonoma, and Watkins Glen, finished second in Chicago, and came in fifth in Mexico City, his worst road/street result of the season.
  • Sam Mayer: Mayer has finished second (Indianapolis), first (Iowa), second (Watkins Glen), and fifth (Daytona) in his last four races to remain in the regular season title race.
  • Will Brown: The 2024 Supercars champion will make his first Xfinity Series star in the No. 11 car for Kaulig Racing, for whom he raced in the Cup Series in the Chicago street race in July.

Pacific Office Automation 147 Predictions and Picks

Sam Mayer to finish in the top five (-125 at Lucky Rebel)

It is tempting to take Mayer to finish in the top three, which he did at Circuit of the Americas (third) and Watkins Glen. But the safer move is to back a top-five finish, which still comes at decent value given his recent results and his aptitude on road courses. The No. 88 car is trying to hog all of the wins right now, but don’t be surprised if Mayer ends up in Victory Lane in Portland.

Austin Hill to finish in the top five (+150 at Bovada)

Hill was in contention for the regular season title until recently, when two poor finishes (34th at Indy and 25th at Daytona) and a suspension from the Iowa race took him out of the running.

The No. 21 has made more negative headlines than positive ones lately, and his results in the last couple of months have left a little to be desired. In the first 14 races of the season, Hill had three wins, eight top fives, and 11 top tens. But since that strong start, he has finished outside of the top ten in six of his last nine races, including four finishes of 25th or worse.

But all three of his good showings in that subpar stretch are top-five finishes at road/street courses, as he finished third in Mexico City and fourth in Chicago and at Watkins Glen. Add in a fourth-place finish at COTA and a 12th-place finish at Sonoma, and he has been one of the series’ best drivers on these courses this season. Hill also owns two top-five finishes at Portland, coming in third in 2022 and fifth in 2023. At these odds, he’s a must-take.

Justin Allgaier to finish in the top five (+100 at Bovada)

Road courses are not Allgaier’s bread and butter, but he is certainly capable of holding his own on them. His best finishes this season are two sixth-place finishes at Sonoma and Watkins Glen, but he had at least two top fives on road courses in each of the previous four seasons.

To keep that streak going, he will need a top five today and another one at the Charlotte roval in October. You have to like his chances to take care of the first part of that equation at Portland, where he finished fifth in 2022 and second in both 2023 and last year.
