After 25 races, only one race remains to decide the makeup of this season’s NASCAR Cup Series playoff field. Who will join the likes of William Byron, Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, and Ryan Blaney in the Round of 16? We will find out tonight at Daytona at the end of the Coke Zero Sugar 400 (7:30 p.m. ET, NBC).
Entering tonight’s regular season finale, 14 of 16 playoff spots are accounted for. Last week, Austin Dillon destroyed the hopes of several drivers ahead of him in the standings by winning the Cook Out 400 at Richmond and locking in his spot in the playoffs.
Entering the Coke Zero Sugar 400, Tyler Reddick and Alex Bowman are holding onto the last two spots, but several drivers, including former Cup Series champions Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch, will be looking to win and get in. Coke Zero Sugar 400 Predictions and Picks
Alex Bowman to finish in the top 10 (+140 at Bovada)
Bowman came up short in his pursuit of Dillon at Richmond, but his second-place finish does at least give him a chance to pass Reddick, who is 29 points ahead, for a guaranteed spot even if he doesn’t win the Coke Zero Sugar 400.
If he does miss out on the playoffs, it won’t be for a lack of trying. He has six top-five finishes and 14 top-10 finishes in 25 races, including two top fives and four top tens in the last five races. Look for him to post another good result tonight, but will it be enough?
Kyle Busch to finish in the top 10 (-105 at Bovada)
After agonizingly missing out on the playoffs last season, Busch is set to be a spectator once again this season unless he wins tonight. He has not had a fantastic season, registering just two top-five finishes and seven top-10 finishes. But just like he nearly pulled it off in last year’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 before being beaten out by Harrison Burton’s last-lap Hail Mary, don’t be surprised if he is in the mix at the end tonight.
Ryan Preece to finish in the top 10 (+200 at Bovada)
In his first season with RFK Racing, Preece has had the best season of his Cup Series career. Thanks to three top-five finishes and 10 top-10 finishes, Preece enters tonight 13th in points.
In the 2023 Coke Zero Sugar 400, Preece had an unforgettable crash at Daytona, going airborne and flipping several times. What a story it would be if he could get his first Cup Series win there to get into the playoffs for the first time. It might not happen, but outside of his 35th-place finish at Richmond, he has been putting up mostly solid results recently.
