Flyweight Title Shot On The Line In The Main Event
The wait is almost over for Manel Kape to make his return to the octagon against Brandon Royval. The match up has been anticipated for almost a full year after falling through in the first 2 bookings.
While Kape is the one the pulled out in the most recent match up, he is now healthy and ready for the challenge. The prospect spoke highly of himself all week, believing he could get the title shot with a statement win over the prospect Royval.
Manel Kape has been very impressive as of late, putting together back to back statement wins. His last bout is what sprung him further into title contention, when he styled on top upcoming prospect Asu Almabayev on his way to a KO victory.
The Portuguese striker has great counter punching skills and pocket presence. He relies on his head movement and slick foot work to move in and out of range, picking his shots carefully.
The stardom of Kape was not exactly created under the UFC Banner, as he is a former Rizin champion. Because he came from that style of promotion, there were many things that took time to adjust to in American style MMA.
One being fighting with wrestling shoes on, which are allowed in Rizin but not in the UFC. This has cause Kape to look a little flat at times, having 2 decision wins in the UFC contrasting many KOs in Rizin.
Kape has made quite the case for title contention with his solid wins. Especially when on the microphone, the star talks his talk and is great at selling himself to the media.

Brandon Royval will answer the call of the tough veteran striker Manel Kape. The talented prospect is coming into this match up on the heels of Fight Of The Year candidate with current Flyweight Champion Joshua Van.
By having great history with the current champion, I believe he already has a leg up on some of the competition for a title shot. The first fight was a legendary war but was only 3 rounds instead of the championship 5 rounds.
The bout left myself and other MMA fans across the globe wondering, what happens in 5 rounds? With a solid win over top contender Manel Kape, we all might just find out what that looks like.
Royval is a very long lengthy striker that manages his distance well. The cardio machine, he has set records for his volume style striking throwing almost everything he can at his opponents.
By being very active in the striking he often draws out a firefight from his opponents which could provide him openings here. Manel Kape is a flashy striker that often believes he is winning close rounds, providing Royval some opportunity here.
If Royval is able to absorb damage and keep this fight standing for the whole 25 minutes I believe he could provide problems to Kape in the later rounds. The volume may be to much for Kape to overcome with just power shots which could allow Royval to steal some rounds on the judges scorecards.
