Weigh ins and media day antics are complete and UFC Vegas 107 is set to kick off tonight at the UFC Apex. This didn’t come without some drama though, as we saw 2 fighters miss weight and one bout entirely scrapped from the card.
Additionally we saw the Chiasson/Vieira bout moved to a catchweight of 145 lbs after Vieira was unable to make the weight. With some real unprofessionalism showings up and down the card.
Even the main event, where we saw Barber miss weight by .5 lb and the officials fined her. It showed on the scales as she looked very rough for the biggest fight of her career.

Erin Blanchfield is a high level B.J.J artist who is very dangerous if the fight hits the mat. She has been on a tear in her UFC tenure, going 7-1 in that span.
The only loss coming to Manon Fiorot, who fans just saw nearly snatch the flyweight title. Certainly not a bad loss to have on your record and I believe she has taken valuable lessons from the fight.
Blanchfield may be a phenomenal grappler, but she struggles getting her opponents down. Sporting just a 31% take down accuracy, her wrestling needs to show improvement to be able to fully utilize her skillset.
The striking is another big question mark in her skillset. Although showing improvement in her last 5 fights, it is still a glaring hole in her game which can be exploited by a fighter with good takedown defense.

I believe Erin is still a very young prospect with a long way to go to round out her skill set. In a matchup with Barber, she may be biting off more then she can chew in the striking department.

Maycee Barber is a home grown talent for the UFC, making her debut at just 21 years old. She has grown under the bright lights, going 9-2 in her UFC tenure.
The few losses came to great competition where she may have just bit off more then she could chew at such a young age. Learning those valuable lessons early I feel has prepared her for this jump up in competition.
Barber is a take one to give 3 style fighter that shows her aggressiveness throughout the duration of the fight. Often losing the 1st round, she is able to punch her way back into fights and out class her opponents.
A fighter that will fight hard for your money to the last seconds of the fight. She has a kill or be killed attitude and a violent nature to her gameplans.
In her tenure, she has shown some holes in her skillset that the right fighter can exploit. Opponents have taken Barber down in almost all of her fights under the UFC banner.
Although able to work herself back up & punch her way out of the clinch, it is worrisome for bettors. Even in fights she is taken down, she always pops back up to her feet to try to get the points back with volume & violence.

UFC fans across the globe are equally as anticipating the Co-Main Event, as we see a massive match up in the light weight division. We will see Ludovit Klein take a massive step up in competition against the UFC Veteran Mateusz Gamrot.
Mateusz Gamrot is a tried & true veteran of the UFC with a very impressive resume. Fighting top level competition in his 10 fight UFC tenure, he has been able to produce 8 wins.
With his unrelenting grappling pace, he shoots take down after takedown providing little room for his opponent to breath. Sporting a takedown average of 5.25 per fight, he has been able to drag his opponents to the mat to secure victories.
A glaring problem with this gameplan is his 31% takedown accuracy and his low control time numbers. Being able to get a fighter to the mat is only 1/2 the battle, to gain control & damage is a different story.
His low takedown accuracy and control time only proves one thing, he struggles to keep fighters down once he gets them there. This proved to be a major factor in the fights he has lost in his tenure.
The cardio of Gamrot is one of his greatest attributes. Even if the takedowns are not working, he will shoot over and over again until finding success.

He is coming into this fight riding a 6 fight winning streak, with a rare draw in the mix as well. With a few solid wins under his belt he has shown he is ready to test his skills against the best of the best.
There has been some real ups and downs of his tenure, dropping back to back fights in 2021 to lower level fighters. A big question was the forementioned draw against Jai Herbert, which he would have lost without a vital point deduction.
Klein is a very high level kick boxer with solid hands and big power. His signature high kick is very hard to telegraph, hurting many opponents with it.
A big question throughout his tenure has been his takedown defense. His surrendering of takedowns and control time to low level opponents who are not known for their wrestling has raised serious concern for some bettors.
Recently, he has improved this side of his game, which is expected at the prime age of 30. We must say that he has not faced high-level wrestlers in these tests, making it hard for fans to judge his skillset at this point.
Another concerning factor to Kleins game, has been his volume in some of these bouts. Seemingly being to patient & waiting for the right time to strike.
It is possible for him to lose minutes by waiting to long or being to defensive on the feet. It is hard for me to back a man that is comfortable losing minutes against a clear minute winner.

The UFC made the match up between violent lightweights Aswell & Oki on short notice due to Oki’s original opponent pulling out. Aswell will get his opportunity to showcase his skills against a high level prospect in Oki.
A very skilled striker in the lightweight division, Oki has massive power in his hands. He has racked up 5 knockouts over his career with a few knockdowns in his UFC tenure.
In his last fight, he added a wrestling wrinkle into his game while paying the price by submitting. The fight Iq and awareness to fight out of chokes could see improvement this early into his career.
The biggest hole in his game has been his volume. Often staring at his opponents while throwing faints instead getting inside the pocket.
Oki seems to patient waiting for the perfect opportunity to land a big strike to finish the fight.
Coming off that big upset loss, it is expected by me for Oki to play it safe in a match up he wasn’t prepared for. I believe he will try to win minutes in a striking match rather then land a big punch over a prospect like Aswell.

Michael Aswell accepted the call on just 5 days notice to make his debut at UFC Vegas 107. The decision gives insight to the type of fighter he is, a gamer willing to throw down with anyone.
At the young age of just 24 years old, Aswell has accumulated an impressive resume on the regional scene. He even had an impressive showing on Dana Whites Contender Series, although getting the loss in a close decision.
He is a violent fighter with very slick striking and big power in his hands. In most of his fights he shows a willingness to brawl and an impressive chin as he is a take 1 to give 1 type of fighter.
The fight Iq he has shown in some of his early bout is particularly impressive. He has not fallen in love with his hands and is willing to implement grappling into the gameplan if he feels there is an advantage there.
