White Sox vs. Twins: We have another full slate of baseball tonight, and one matchup in the American League Central stands out for more reasons than just the standings. The Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox meet for game two of their four-game series in Minneapolis, with the White Sox coming off a rare victory. For Minnesota, this is a bounce-back spot at home, but for us, the real intrigue comes from the player prop market.
Anytime a struggling pitcher with glaring splits takes the mound, there is an opportunity to uncover value. That is exactly the case this evening as Chicago hands the ball to Davis Martin, a right hander who has been battling major issues against left handed bats. That opens the door for a very specific prop target we have been waiting to back for quite some time. Tonight feels like the right moment.

Finally, we can (hopefully) bet on Mr. Kody Clemens. After being all over him yesterday morning, and then watching him get ruled out of the lineup for Monday afternoon’s game against the White Sox right after my article was posted, it felt like a cruel twist. I have been dying to bet on the Rocket’s son. Why? I cannot give a clear reason outside of the fact that his name always seems to pop up in my notifications whenever I am dialed into a Twins game. Today feels like the perfect time to back his props.
Tonight marks game two of a four-game set between the White Sox and Twins in Minnesota. The White Sox snuck out a 6-5 victory last night, which for some bettors was their Super Bowl, as it cashed Chicago’s win total on the season. That win also gave the White Sox their 50th of the year, a significant improvement from their 41-win campaign last season.
We are not worried about the final score in this game. All that matters is Kody Clemens going over 1.5 bases at +130. That is tremendous value for a hitter who is more than due for a breakout performance. Let us dive in.
Martin’s Struggles
On the mound for Chicago is 28-year-old right hander Davis Martin. His road numbers tell the story: a 4.58 ERA, 6.33 xERA, 4.55 xFIP, and 1.31 WHIP. Left handed bats in particular have had his number lately. Over his last 90 faced, Martin has allowed 51.7% hard contact and an 11.7% barrel rate, leading to a .422 xBA, .846 xSLG, and .436 xwOBA.
Of the five pitches in Martin’s arsenal, 40% grade below league average, including his cutter, sinker, and slider. Against those offerings, Clemens has an expected batting average of .228, an expected slugging of .471, and a 110 wRC+. Martin’s most-used pitch is his fastball, which happens to be his second-best pitch. Clemens has struggled against fastballs this year, which is part of why I have stayed away from him, but he has seen every other pitch in Martin’s mix. This feels like a strong spot to back him.
Bounce Back Kody
Clemens enters tonight on a three-game hitless streak, with just three hits in his last seven contests. Still, I sprinkled on his home run at 5-to-1, which feels like tremendous value. This season, when graded with an elite home rating on Batters-Box, Clemens has gone deep nearly 40% of the time. That is a sample of 18 games, not massive, but still very encouraging. Overall, across 42 elite ratings, he has homered 24% of the time this season.
All things considered, this is the perfect opportunity to finally get behind Kody Clemens. The matchup against Davis Martin lines up with his strengths, and despite a short cold stretch at the plate, the underlying numbers suggest real upside. The value on his home run prop at 5-to-1 is too good to pass up, especially given his track record when graded highly at home. Sometimes betting comes down to trusting the spot, and this feels like the exact kind of situation we wait for. Tonight, I am all in on Clemens to break through in a big way.
