Pitcher Report | June 7th

MLBSauce-June7

Yak City

The Rockies are still playing at Coors Field so let’s start there. Colorado will have Carson Palmquist take the mound today, the first year pitcher’s recorded an 8.50 ERA through 4 starts so far this season and an additional 4 HR in just 18 innings of work. Palmquist played the Mets just last week, giving up 4 hits and 2 HR in just 4.2 innings.

Another young pitcher on the mound down in Anaheim today, Jack Kochanowicz. The righty’s recorded a 5.55 ERA this and he’s allowing opposing batters to hit .281. He’s faced this Mariners team before, surrendering HR to both Cal Raleigh and Jorge Polanco.

Lastly, let’s talk about the pitcher’s duel going on in Sacremento. Charlie Morton has struggled in his first year with the Orioles, he’s got 6.20 ERA and allowing opposing batters to hit .271. For the Athletics, it’ll be Luis Severino on the mound. Severino’s had his fair share of struggled against this Orioles lineup, so don’t be surprised if they get to him early.

Weather Man, Weather Man

It’s the summer time, we’ve gotta talk about the weather. Let’s kick it off with Coors Field. The highest altitude in the MLB and the most hitter friendly park of them all. Windows blowing toward right field and low air pressure in the Rocky Mountains, it could be a great day for the long ball.

Next, it’s the Orioles in Sacremento. This road trip marks the first time the Orioles have come out to Sutter Health Park, yesterday being the team’s first regular season game here in Sacremento. The Orioles lost 5-4, with neither team scoring a run after the 5th inning. Today with Morton and Severino on the mound, I’m expecting more hits and probably more runs.

Lastly, the Red Sox are in the Bronx to take on the New York Knicks. With Garret Crochet and Ryan Yarbrough set to face off, the runs might be a little harder to come by; but something tells me the Yankees are coming to send a message.

Our Best Bets on the Diamond for Saturday, June 7th

Jacob Wilson o1.5 Total Bases (-120 via BetOnline)

Jacob Wilson

Jacob Wilson in his first full season in the big leagues, is putting on an absolute show. He leads the Athletics in hits, batting .369 through 61-games this year, he’s got 8 HR and 22 total XBH. Wilson ranks top-3 for the Athletics in runs scored, RBI and #1 in batting average.

The 23-yeard old short stop has become a vital piece for this Athletics team and he’s managed to elevate his game when playing at home. Wilson’s batting .397 at home this season,, recording a .570 SLG and hitting 4 of his 8 HR at Sutter Health Park.

Against right-handed pitchers this year, Wilson’s hitting .357 with 7 of his 8 HR coming against righties. Morton’s struggles this year have been well documented, his ERA balloons to 7.00 on the road and hes’ allowing right-handed batters to hit .284.

Look for Jacob Wilson to come out tonight and leave his mark on tonight’s game.

Bonus: Jacob Wilson Home Run (+185)

Yankees ML (-106 via BetOnline)

Aaron Judge

I get it, it’s Crochet Day for the Red Sox. Doesn’t matter, without Bregman in the lineup this Red Sox team has looked abysmal. Last night they watched Walker Buehler get torched early and never really had a chance in Game 1 of this AL East, Divisional Series.

The Yankees recorded 14 hits, 9 runs and 3 HR in just 8 innings of work. Today they’ll let Ryan Yarbrough take the mound and he’s been fantastic for New York this year. Yarbrough’s got a 3.00 ERA this year but he’s holding opposing batters to a .203 batting average.

That batting average drops to .170 when he’s playing at Yankee Stadium and his Ks/9 goes up to 9.4. The Yankees are the top team in the AL East and look for them to show the Red Sox why, tonight.

Bonus: Salvador Perez Home Run (+420)
