MLB Pitcher Report | July 2

Pitcher Report, July 2

Hump Day Home Run Report

With so many games on today’s slate, I’ve condensed the report to my favorite pitching matchups today. Now let’s kick it off with my favorite pitcher, Austin Gomber. Gomber’s having a bit of a rough year, his 6.14 ERA is the worst of his career and it’s only gotten worse at Coors Field.

Gomber’s ERA balloons to 9.31 at home, allowing opposing batters to hit .381 on the year and giving up 2.9 HR/9. He’s had a late start to the year, returning from injury just two weeks ago. Whether it’s his injury or Coors Field, I love this matchup for the Astros bats.

Next, Didier Fuentes. The young righty has started just two games in his short career, giving up 14 total hits in just 8.1 innings of work. Today, he’ll make his first start at Truist Park in front of the home crowd.

Lastly, another day another young pitcher making his debut at Dodgers Stadium. It’s easily one of the toughest road arenas to play in and for most young pitchers this season, it’s been the same story. Yesterday we saw Shane Smith take the mound for the White Sox, giving up six hits, six earned runs, and one home run.

It’s a tough environment to play and an even tougher lineup to go up against. Look for the Dodgers to put up runs once again tonight.

Baseball Flight School – MLB Stadium Report

We’ve got so many games on the docket, I want to see the baseball absolutely fly today. The double-header in Philly today looks promising. Temperatures are in the mid 80s with slight winds blowing outward towards right field.

Coors Field is always near the top of everyone’s list, but especially today. With 15 mph winds blowing out towards left field, low air pressure, and temperatures in the low 90s, look for the ball to fly in Colorado.

In Atlanta we’ve got 10 mph winds blowing directly to the corner in left field, temperature in the mid 80s, and a plethora of big hitters on both sides. Today feels like a good day to watch the baseball go “bye-bye.”

Our Best MLB Pitcher vs. Batter Bets on the Diamond for Wednesday, July 2

Isaac Paredes o1.5 Total Bases (-130 via BetOnline)

Isaac Paredes

Paredes is batting .251 on the year, he leads the Astros in home runs (17) and RBI (46), but he’s really been struggling as of late. He’s cleared this line just three times in his last 10 games and he’s gone 1/9 in his last two. Last night, Paredes went 0/4 at Coors and that’s why we’re going to him today.

Isaac’s killed Gomber in their historical matchups, recording a .571 batting average with seven at-bats. Gomber’s struggled against right-handed bats this year, allowing righties to hit .354 on the season. All three home runs Gomber’s surrendered this year have been against right-handed bats and all three have come at Coors.

Gomber’s ERA jumps to 9.31 at home this year and he’s allowing the opposition hit .381 at Coors. Paredes is hitting .333 in his career at Coors and his 20.8 degree average launch angle should help take advantage of the wind and low air pressure.

Bonus: Isaac Paredes Home Run (+340)

Shohei Ohtani o1.5 Total Bases (-120 via BetOnline)

Shohei Ohtani

After last night, how could we not go back. Young pitchers making their debut against Shoehei Ohtani, at Dodger Stadium—I don’t have the exact numbers, but it feels great. Ohtani’s hitting .298 at Dodger Stadium with 17 home runs and a .646 SLG overall.

Burke’s ERA balloons to 5.82 on the road this year, allowing opposing batters to hit .272 with 1.6 HR/9 allowed. Against right-handed pitchers, Ohtani’s batting .274, while producing 23 of his 29 home runs.

It’s chalk, but if you’re giving me this price for Shohei, I’m going to take it.

Bonus: Shohei Ohtani Home Run (+175)
