MLB Pitcher Report | July 1st

Pitcher Report July 1

Tuesdays are for Dingers

Let’s kick it off at Coors Field. We’ve got the Houston Astros and Colorado Rockies set to face off, Chase Dollander taking the mound for the Rockies and rookie Colton Gordon for the Astros. Dollander’s had a rough year but his 6.06 ERA is somehow not even the worst among Rockies’ starters.

Dollander’s allowing opposing hitters to hit .255 this year but he’s been even worse at Coors. His ERA balloons to 8.54 and he’s given up eight of his 14 home runs allowed, at Coors Field. He’s also allowing batters hit .304 at Coors and this Astros lineup is chalked full of big hitters.

For the Astros, it’s their rookie Colton Gordon. His 3.98 ERA is promising but he’s also allowing 1.8 HR/9 and he’s really struggled against right handed bats. Seven of the eight home runs he’s allowed have been to righties and he’s allowing them to hit .290.

Next, let’s move to Dodger Stadium. Shane Smith’s set to make his first career start at Dodger Stadium and that’s no easy task. The rookie’s recorded a 3-5 record this season, posting a 3.38 ERA and only allowing five home runs across 15 starts.

Lastly, we’ve got Emerson Hancock and Michael Lorenzen set to face off in Seattle. Both pitchers allow an average exit velocity of 90+ and face lineups full of big hitters. T-Mobile Park isn’t the best for home runs but with pitchers like this, anything is possible.

Weatherman, Weatherman – MLB Stadium Report

Conditions are Coors could be better, with the wind’s currently blowing in. Despite that, the low air pressure in Denver provides for great conditions, regardless of the wind direction. Next, we’ve got 8.5 mph winds blowing directly out of the stadium in Los Angeles.

The Dodgers loaded lineup returns home after a six game road trip. Los Angeles went 5-1 during the road trip and look to continue that against Chicago tonight.

We’ve got closed stadiums in Seattle and Arizona, but still some great matchups on all four teams.

Our Best MLB Pitcher vs. Batter Bets on the Diamond for Tuesday, July 1st

Cal Raleigh o1.5 Total Bases (+108 via BetOnline)

Cal Raleigh after another home run - top MLB pitcher vs. batter matchups

Big Dumper, feels like he comes through every time we bet him. He’s betting .276 on the season with 33 home runs and 71 RBI. Raleigh leads the league in home runs, becoming one of the few players to hit 33 home runs before July 1st.

Cal’s been just as good at T-Mobile Park, hitting 15 of his 33 home runs here, despite the terrible dimensions. Tonight he faces off with Michael Lorenzen, the righty that’s given up 16 home runs with 11 of those coming on the road. Raleigh’s batting just .200 against Lorenzen in his career but this isn’t Cal Raleigh, this is Big Dumper.

Bonus: Cal Raleigh Home Run (+240)

Shohei Ohtani o1.5 Total Bases (-130 via BetOnline)

Ohtani

Today’s theme is chalk. So let’s go from the top home run hitter in the league, to the number three; Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani’s hitting .288 this year, he’s got 29 home runs and and 54 RBI. He’s been one of the best hitters in baseball AND he’s back to pitching.

The Dodgers are coming home from a short six game road trip that ended in Kansas City with Ohtani going 0/8 in the last two games. Despite the rough finish, Ohtani recorded a .238 batting average, hit three home runs and recorded five RBI.

Even when Ohtani’s bad, he’s good. Now returning to Dodger Stadium, a place he’s hitting .299 with 16 of his 29 home runs coming inside this park. Conditions couldn’t be better and it’s why we’re seeing his home run sitting at such a low price tag.

Apologies for the chalk, but give me the two best hitters in baseball right now.

Bonus: Shohei Ohtani Home Run (+165)
