MLB Pitcher Report | August 28

Friday Junior
Let’s kick it off in the City of Brotherly Love. We’ve got the Philadelphia Phillies set to take on the Atlanta Braves in this NL East battle. Aaron Nola gets the start for Philly tonight, he’s got a 6.52 ERA this year and he’s allowing opposing hitters to hit .300 this year. Nola’s giving up 2.3 HR/9 at home this year and has given up 11 of his 13 home runs to lefties. All of this, added to the fact that Nola’s historically struggled against this Braves lineup.
Acuña’s hitting .364 against Nola with four home runs, Riley’s got six home runs and is batting .365, and Ozuna’s got four home runs despite batting just .242 against Nola. Opposite of Nola will be Cal Quantrill. He’s started just one game so far for Atlanta, giving up five hits, three earned runs and a singular home run.
Quantrill’s got a 5.51 ERA this year and allowing opposing hitters to hit .281. He’s giving up 1.6 HR/9 on the road this year and 13 of his 18 home runs allowed have been to right handed bats.
Moving to the Big Apple, we’ve got the New York Mets hosting the Miami Marlins. Adam Mazur will make just his second start of the year, giving up five hits, four earned runs and a home run in just 5.2 innings of work. Mazur finished the year with a 7.49 ERA last year, giving up 1.6 HR/9 and allowing lefties to hit .315 on the season.
Last game on the slate today, the Bronx Bombers are in the Chicago taking on the White Sox. The Yankees are hot, going 12-5 over their last 15 games and hitting 51 home runs this month alone (24 GP). Tonight they’ll play in the smallest outfield in the MLB; feels like we see this ball fly today.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs – August 28 Weather Conditions
With just three games to talk about, there’s not a not to pick from. In Philadelphia we’ve got temperatures in the mid 70s with 5.4 mph winds blowing out toward centre field. In New York we’re seeing similar temperatures but winds blowing at 9.2 mph directly out and towards left field.
Lastly, in the Windy City, we’ve got windy conditions. Winds blowing at 12.3 mph out and toward right field. This should provide a significant boost to some of these left handed hitters on both teams.
Our Best MLB Pitcher vs. Batter Bets on the Diamond for Thursday, August 28
Kyle Schwarber o1.5 Total Bases (-115 via BetOnline)

I might sound like a broken record, but we’re betting on Kyle Schwarber again. At 32 years old, Schwarber’s having the best season of his career. He’s batting .243 this year with 45 home runs, 90 runs scored and an astonishing 110 RBI. He’s played in all 133 games this season for the Phillies and leads the team in every major offensive category.
The Phillies sit atop the NL East because of this man, Kyle Schwarber. Schwarber’s batting .261 at home this year with 23 home runs and 60 RBI. He’s been even better at home this season and he’s been even better Atlanta. Schwarber’s batting .313 against the Braves this year, with four home runs in just nine games.
Despite batting just .143 against Quantrill in his career, Schwarber’s been great against righties this year; batting .243 with 28 of his 45 home runs coming against right handed pitching.
Bonus: Kyle Schwarber Home Run (+175)
Aaron Judge o1.5 Total Bases (-110 via BetOnline)

As you can see, the theme for today is chalk. We’ve got both Kyle Schwarber and Aaron Judge on the ticket today. Judge is batting .323 on the year with 41 home runs, 104 runs scored and 95 RBI. He’s been absolutely dominant once again and the Yankees are once again winning ball games.
However, this month has been a struggle for the two-time American League MVP. Judge is batting .217 this month, hitting just four home runs in 20 games played. These aren’t the numbers you’d expect from someone of Judge’s caliber, especially this late in the season.
Tonight feels different, Judge is playing in the smallest outfield in the MLB, winds are blowing directly out of the stadium and we’ve got the young Davis Martin on the bump. Judge is batting .426 in his career at Rate Field, hitting eight home runs in the process.
Bonus: Aaron Judge Home Run (+200)
